Not all dvd players can read disks burned on your computer. To maximize the chances that it will play do the following:

1. If your DVD burner supports it, use DVD+R discs. +R has a higher compatability than -R.
2. Burn at a lower speed.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Burning movies on the computer , playback fine on two computeers , will not play on ONN portable player used DVD-R

Burning dvd\'s is always a crapshoot when you have multiple machines. Computer drives are more tolerant on playback - the problem lies with your other, independent playback units. That is why in your main viewing area it is important that you have a few units so that if disk does not play in one machine, it will play on another. Has to do with the individual differences and calibrations of the machines involved. Store bought dvd\'s have less problems because their laser reflectivity is always higher than disks you burn, and therefore, easier to read properly. Price of the unit has no reflection on ability to properly read the disk. Sometimes and often, a cheaper machine will work better with copies - you never know.

My funai DVD player will not play burned disks. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

you can change your DVD player or change type of DVD's that you are burning and check if they will work.

some explanation can be found here about different DVD types:

I am experiencing problms when trying to record onto DVD, the msg says "driver error", is there any software problem which can be rectified?

it would seem that from your descrition the os system burning software may be corrupt. to prve that to be true and it not be a hardware issue or media issue, i suggest you download nero lite via the link provided below. the software is completely free. if this does not resolve your issue , then you have either a bad dvd rom or the improper media. all dvd burning media comes as + or -. the burner may only be able to read and burn from one type, unless its a multi read +/- burner.

Program says dvd+r incompatible with toshiba dvd player

Some DVD players will read 'DVD-R' ("minus-R") disks.
Some DVD players will read 'DVD+R' ("minus+R") disks.
Some DVD players will read "both" types of disks.

So, if you're burning onto a DVD+R disk, you won't be able to "play" the disk on your Toshiba DVD-player.

Instead, buy "blank" DVD-R disks, and write on them.

The only fix i've found for this (without replacing parts) is to turn the unit off and back on and it will read the cd.

Bush television & DVD error message 'unknown disk'

Some units jusy won't play certain types of recorded DVD discs. I would transfer one to a DVD+R type and see what happens. Buy a good brand like Memorex.

Hope that helps...
