You have more patience than I do. I'd load Linux on a flash drive (Mint or Ubuntu MATE are my current favorites) and see how well it ran on those, then install. HPs usually run Linux perfectly. You're not still running Vista, are you?
Most Linuxes come with LibreOffice so you can read and write all Microsoft proprietary formats; you can set it to save in .docx by default.
It is asking for the recovery discs that should have been made in the event there was a problem with the recovery sector on drive D or the hard drive failed. The only option is go to www.hp.com contact customer support and the technical department to see if they can sell you the much needed discs.
If you format a disc with a system file on it and CHKDSK.exe on it. Boot the laptop from it and run CHKDSK/F. This will remove the errors on the hard drive and hopefully let you re format and put your system back on.
Your harddrive is starting to go. You will need to replace your hard drive. When you computer starts running slow then it reboots itself is because it is trying to get itself to work properly, but the hard drive is not operating at full capacity. I would back up all of your files as soon as you can onto either a CD or a flash drive, to save yourself from very costly repairs if you need to have the data extracted from the hard drive
I will ask that you do this, format your PC and this are the step if you don't know... Go to the control panel you will see backup and recovery, buy an empty disk backup all files, then format your PC and recover after. All will now be fine. check
the recovery disk is designed to repair or restore a system to its previous factory condition and is not a full installation. the formating of your hdd would have erased all the data required for this process to be completed. you can try a recovery utility that may be able to help you at this link. the disk might not have been saved in an .iso format to tell the computer to run it before starting an OS. if this disk is recognized and runs on your system then you will need to attempt a recovery, which is unlikely since the drive has allready been formated many necessary system files may not be able to be restored. at this point a complete new install will be necessary.
Good Luck!
