Make sure you have all of the latest updates and check your installed memory as that is a favourite cause of this problem.
If you are running Vista or 7, press F5 at boot up for access to Windows memory checker.
The problem will depend on the error code you get when the blue screen shows up. However, we can assume it is some sort of hardware error.
The first thing to do is make sure all the drivers are up to date for your computer. The acer support site provides the driver files you need.
start here http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/download.htm and answer the questions to get the correct drivers for your machine.
Once you have updated all the drivers we know your computer is in the correct state (software wise). This may well fix the issue
Please let me know if this fixes the error (blue screen due to driver issues is very common and this solves the vast majority of cases).
If this does not cure the problem we can move on to the next level of troubleshooting.
I would only bother with the memory tests if you are still getting the problems.
Assuming Vista, you can get to the memory tests by clicking start, then typing memory in the search box, it will display memory diagnostic tool in the window above (may take a while to appear). Click on memory diagnostic tool and select run tests immediately - your machine will restart and run the memory tests.
If these tests fail you must replace your memory.
Goo luck and please let us know how you get on.
