SOURCE: No power at startup on Sharp LCD-32gd8e

Hard to diagnose some problems without hands-on. However, my guess is the power supply is fine, as are most on LCD's. The inverter board which powers the screen is the most likely cause of problems on that model set. Only other thing that i've seen is a shield that moved slightly beneath the main pcb. It moves because the putty that holds it in place was not rated at a high enough temp. and it simply turns to goo, allowing the heat sink to slide down and touch the main board. Three boards must be removed to find this problem. By holding down the power button on the set you may not be allowing the shutdown circuit to engage which means the problem could still be anywhere in the set. Sorry I can't be more help. All you can get is a guess here.

SOURCE: RE: Sharp Aquos LCD TV,

A component is shorting out, and the TV is auto turning itself off for protection. Usually it is a shorted out horizontal output transistor. Only a tech can fix this.

SOURCE: dryer won't stay on unless I hold the start button down. When I let go of the start button, it stops.

most likely the evenheat board is bad, but it could be the motor relay, get under the console and check the trouble shooting wiring diagram. there are several checks you can do to narrow it down.

SOURCE: Kettle will not stay on

Sounds like the switch is weight sensitive. A safety feature to prevent overheat as contents run low? The baseplate is probably not moving freely enough to move accordingly.

your garage door has saftey sensors at the door
these are photo eyes
in the owners manuel that came with the opener
that has pictures in it which would help
the photo eyes need to be clear of debri and aimed at each other with no obstruction
there are leds on each sensor and when aimes properly they should be light if i remember correctly
if you can not get them to light then you may have to replace the sensors

Unplugged it. After looking for a new tv online I decided to try getting it to work. So, plugged it back in and held down the power button, a red light came on, held down the power button again and an orange light came on, held down power button again and green light came on and tv powered on. This was simply a case of trial and success!

power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

THe problem is in the set top box. Or common called the tuner box. IT looses the 5 volts to the main display and thus the monitor will go into a shut down state. THESE boxes are factory repair only and must be sent off to repair.

Lcd screen does not stay on.

Not really a solution, but a workaround. You can enter public mode menu and disable power off by power button. Hold the remote in one hand (you'll need it later), and with the other hand maintain "volume " and "input" buttons on the TV, and press the power button. Maintain the power button depressed otherwise the TV will power off. You can release the other buttons. The TV should display a "Public mode" dialog box where you can input a 3-digit password. Enter "027" with the remote. The TV should display the public mode menu. It is operated with the cursor arrows of the remote. Highlight the "power on fixed" item. Change it to "fixed". Then highlight "execute" and press OK on the remote. You should now be able to release the power button without turning off the TV.
In Sharp's own words :
In "Fixed" setting, the power-off by the power key of the unit is invalidated and the image is kept being received. The power can be turned off by stopping the power supply from AC.
Note that you won't be able to turn the TV off with the remote either.
Also, if you wish to enter public mode menu again, you will have to disconnect and reconnect the power cord on the back of the TV while maintaining "volume " and "input" buttons depressed, because the power button is no longer operating.
