Old PC and Laptop used to have software and device driver delivered on low capacity (usually 1.44MB 3.5 in) 'Floppy' disk diskette (FDD):
'A
floppy disk is a data storage medium that is composed of a disk of thin, flexible ("floppy")
magnetic storage medium sealed in a square or rectangular plastic carrier lined with fabric that removes dust particles'.
Newer machines usually will not come with FDD drive as we now use CD or DVD or even external USB stick/storage instead. If a FDD is required, you can get an external USB connected FDD as a standard FDD drive will require the support of a specific FDD adapter.
Hope it clarify your question.
