You can activate the bluetooth for this phone by following the instructions below as they come to you. If you are not clear on any part, please contact me. 1. Go to the main menu of your phone. 2. Scroll through to the application menu, 3. Open it and select bluetooth. From here, you can activate the bluetooth feature on your phone. You have to follow the above instruction if you want to receive an item from another phone via bluetooth. Sometimes, you might be asked to pair your phone using a code, this is normal depending on the phones involved. Also, if you want to send an item from you phone to another phone, all you need to do is to select the item and press the options button and select "send via" and the choose bluetooth from the menu. If you are having problems connecting to someone else's device with your Bluetooth, make sure both devices are activated and are compatible. Also make sure the distance between the two devices is not over 32 feet. There must be no walls or barriers between the devices. You may also need to make sure that the other device is not in hidden mode. If you experience problems ending a Bluetooth connection and another device is joined to your Bluetooth device, you can use that device to end the connection; or you can disable the connection by pressing the Menu button, selecting "Connect," choosing "Bluetooth" and pressing "Off."
To activate BT, try the following:

I know that it is not very helpfull to say this, but you are not alone with this fault which appears to be quite common to the D500.I assume that the same notice appears when you attempt to activate IR as this is usually the case. The only suggestion that has been doing the rounds is as follows. Remove the back and look at the chassis and you will see a square IC unit near the battery connectors. Apply heavy but carefull pressure on this and try the Bluetooth again. This is said to have cleared the fault in at least two cases.
