Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Accidental deletion! Going on a trip of a life time! I have a new computer and new sony digital camera. I have been taking my memory stick out of my camera and re-sizing my pictures on my computer. What wasn't realizing is that when I was saving these pictures I was saving them on the memory stick, not the computer. With the initial thought of saving these pictures on my computer, I erased the pictures on my memory stick. I was very upset when I fond out that these pictures were deleted! HELP!! Is there ANY way to get those deleted pictures back?? Or am I out of luck. :(

This sounds promising! I just don't have a clue how to recover pictures on my own. Where can I take my memory stick to recover the pictures professionally??

Can I take it to a Geek Squad in Best Buy?? Or would I have to go to a specialized computer place?? why not go to a camera place??

  • TJ1982 Jul 08, 2008

Oh! understand. I am out of town right now. Is there a time limit for these pictures on the memory stick or can I still get them retrieved since I deleted them two days ago??

First do not panic! It is possible to recover your pictures if you take care. Take the card from the camera (powered off) and if it has a "write protect" tab then lock it now. Do not try and write anything to the card or you risk causing more problems.

If you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a FREE utility that will recover your photos from the following link:

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

If you need something a little more "user friendly" then you will need to buy the software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many.
One I have used successfully is RescuePro that used to be bundled with some Sandisk products. Now you can get it from the link below:

http://www.lc-tech.com/software/prwindetail.html.

You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying.

Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recover your pictures to your PC safely!

Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

Hi - Any qualified computer engineer will be able to assist you. Ask your friends or work colleagues who fixes their PC's. You can approach your work IT department or local college perhaps. Check your local telephone directory adverts for PC repair. I would avoid high street camera shops personally.

Hi - I'm afraid I don't know "Geek Squad" as I am in Spain!
I recommend a computer technician, as I said check yellow pages in your phone book.
In my experience camera shops are only interested in selling you a new camera which is why I say avoid them.

    Good Luck!

Hi - There is no time limit on the pictures stored on the card, you will be able to recover them when you are ready.

    Best regards,
    Informatica.

Deleted photos from my sony cybershot DSC W220

I have had success with this camera recovery software ... Download the program
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

I accidentally deleted a picture from my Nikon Coolpix L11. How do I recover it?

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, phone or camera memory card or USB Memory stick, it just depends on what's happened since the files were deleted.
When you delete files the data itself isn't deleted, just the index entry that says where the data for those files is located. The space containing the deleted files is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.
If the deleted files are on a memory card or USB memory stick, just don't save any new files to it.

One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted files is to try some file recovery software. Recommended this data recovery as it saved my life many times.

I try to take a pic but it says 'no memory space on memory stick' ...even though I just deleted photos via the computer...?!?

Never delete using the computer...the camera doesn't recognize anything the computer does. Now, you need to format the stick in the camera to get it working again.

I recently deleted my photos. How can I retreive them? digital camera sony cybershot dsc-w120 7.2 mega prix.

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.

Take out memory card, and connect it to computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.
Download this digital camera recovery software
Install and open the photo recovery software, select the memory card, and click 'Start' button.

No memory space in memory stick

You can delete pictures from the camera. You can transfer the pics to your computer, then delete. Plug you camera into your computer, click start/computer/ double click on the drive that accesses your camera. From here, you can drag/drop pics or delete them or format the entire memory stick. If you need all of the pics and do not have a computer, you will need to purchase another memory stick.

Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks.

new memory stick, the message disappeared! Good luck!

Can I retrieve deleted pics from the Sony memory stick PRO Duo

There sure is, and it's relatively easy. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:
