Reverse order of how you took it apart lol...I'm guessing it's a Mossberg 500? Check their website for an owners manual...it will explain how to reassemble.
Yep. The back end of a Mav 88 is identical to the Mossy 500. Same gun, after all. The front end, forearm is the only real diff accessory-wise. You'd need to buy a Mossy action tube (the forearm steel) to put a forearm on your Mav. Stock, yes....forearm, no.
There should be a catch on the magazine tube of the shotgun, is it ejecting two shells into the chamber when you try to cycle the action? If so check to see that the catch is not damaged. I have the same shotgun and I can take a look at it when I get home.
Sounds like your screws are too long.
Put the screws in w/o the base and see if there is a difference between the rear and front screw hole depth. (I think I am understanding your description, I don't have a picture. Picatinny type rail ? )
Grind/cut/buy screws the right length.
Put some purple locktite on the threads when you are ready to bolt it down for the final time.
For any top mounted rail on any gun, you'll need the gun to have or be drilled for the proper screws. Your Mossy, if it's already drilled, will have four tiny little screws plugging four tiny little holes on the topo fthe receiver. Remove those, put the rail in place, and replace the screws with the ones included in the rail kit. If your gun IS NOT drilled, you can have it drilled....which will cost more than the rail kit....or you can skip that rail and go for a clamshell or side mount rail instead. Both of those use the ejector screw and the trigger retainer pin to attach them.
The loading port is on the bottom of the reciever. You mention that it is "magazine ready"? Mossberg shotguns have a tublular magazine underneath the barrel, surrounded by the action bar and front grip.
Loading the magazine entails holding the shotgun in one hand, taking the shell in the other with the folded end facing the front end of the barrel. Place the shell in the magazine opening (on the bottom) and push it up with your fingers and forward with the thumb of the same hand. It will go completely forward of the silver/blue lifter and stay there when you let go. (the action must be closed to load the magazine).
Alternately, you can open the action and pop a shell into the ejection port on the right side, close it back up, and shoot!
