Question about E-Machines REXUS SPE-300 ATX 300W P4 Power Supply for eMachine computer (SPE300) Power Supply

2 Answers

Internet I juts bought a new 2GB emachine and I had the Geek squad perform an initial set up and installation of spy sweeper and trend micro antivirus hardware. Now, when I use the internet it constantly kicks me off sites like cleveland.com, fandango, msn entertainmnet, and others. Sometimes this occurs as soon as I get on the main page and sometimes it occurs when I click on the sites tool bar.(ie: I try to look up a movie time in the entertainment section of Cleveland.com) The error message I get reads: Your search did not match any known documents. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Sounds to me that your anti virus is preventing you from accessing these websites. I would go into your your anti virus and see if you can change the allow settings. Also, what browser are you using? I highly recommend using Mozilla Firefox.

Your Trend Micro will only handle viruses, for website access, it's the SpySweeper. Try disabling SpySweeper and surf, if all goes well, you just need to configure SpySweeper.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

I love my netbook! I tried to download Microsoft security essentials(free antivirus download.) To do so, I has to uninstall Trend Micro that came with my netbook(bought it 2 weeks ago!) i was unsuccessful...

Assuming that the version of Trend Micro that was pre-installed was the free trial version, you may be better off now and in the long-term by installing a free antivirus program that won't expire.
I usually recommend Avast as a solution for anyone who doesn't need or want to invest in higher performance antivirus and Internet security.
However, if you really want to get that Trend Micro installation back, if you have a CD/DVD for restoring your netbook back to the factory installation, you should be able to use that to revert your netbook to that fresh state (with Trend Micro installed).
I hope this information helps!

If going to control panel and look for the program in "uninstall program", then try actually going to where the Webroot Spysweet is installed.

For example, and most likely, it is installed in C:\Program Files\Webroot Spysweep

AFter finding the folder, delete it and any other files related to this program.

Hope this helps!

SpySweeper Anti Virus conflicts with Trend Micro AntiVirus

I would remove Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro. Then I would install the free versions of AVG, Ad-aware 2008, WinPatrol SpyBlaster and ScrubXP .

I have been using this combo for years and have had no problems as long as you keep them updated.

Spy Sweeper with Antivirus

Spy Sweeper is for spyware and that is not the same as anti virus software..If you do not have anti virus software, you should consider a getting one of the more popular types such as McAfee or Trend PC Cillin.these are two readily available types .. It is good to have both spyware and virus protection and they are not the same.. Hope this helps you..

Trend Micro Antivirus/Vista Antivirus 2008

Hello there.

Unfortunately you have been infected, by the software called "Vista Antivirus 2008". What this software does is infect you, then prompt you to pay to remove the infection that it installed. So it is a scam.

What i would recommend is use the uninstall instructions from here http://www.windowsvistaplace.com/xp-antivirus-2008-removal-instructions-xp-antivirus-2008/spyware-removal

This will remove the infection (and others) from your system.

Once you have completed the steps, be sure to try an online scanner such as housecall here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
This will not conflict with your already-installed Trend Micro software, it mearly runs through your web browser.

On that note, Internet Explorer is not very safe for browsing the Internet with, i would recommend either Firefox or Opera for a safer/better browsing experience.

Hope this helps.
