Question about Sharp R-1480 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Sharp Microwave Model #1482

My microwave made a loud "POP" sound and now there is no heat. Could it be a fuse that blew. I took the front panel off and pulled out what I thought was a fuse(35V 1000 uf ?) It has 2 prongs, with one shorter than the other, so I wonder if the short end broke off. I just want to know what to expect before I call a repairman, to see if it is worth repairing. I purchased it in 1999.

Now!the microwave is cheaper in market! if you call repairman! he will ask equal to new microwave rate price! better think is buy new microwave! check the fuse in microwave! then you buy the new one!

Microwave popped and now does not heat

Okay, first we need to separate the situations. You were boiling water on the stove and had the range hood fan running to **** up the steam. Then you put something in the microwave to heat and you heard a pop and then zip-o.

The water on the stove has nothing to do with the situation, the fan you turn on is not part of the microwave, so it has nothing to do with the microwave.

The pop you heard and then the humming suggests the magnetron failed. You said you found a blow fuse and replaced it and still nothing, right? The magnetron is the most likely culprit...I would think it is safe to say that the magnetron shorted and drew enough current to blow the fuse.

Replace the magnetron and if that doesn't work, let me know here. Good Luck!

SHARP MICROWAVE R-1611 MADE VERY LOUD POP NOISE. NOW IT WON'T HEAT

20 A fuse inside m/w is out. The problem could be with HV condenser, one of the door switches shorted, computer board, magnetron. Needs technician to take a look on it.

Blown Microwave

Most likely a shorted capacitor and a blown fuse. Very common problem on that model.
