Will a kensington universal docking station work with my sony vaio pcg-7d2l

Yes it should if you are running Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8. You just connect to the unit using a spare USB port on your laptop and a plug-plug USB cable. It has it's own power so you'll need a mains socket. This means you can unplug your laptop and leave any devices charging on the docking station USBs. Your laptop should auto-instal the station. I believe there is a table/support available which combines with this unit. There a varying prices for this unit so look around.
Good Luck

Hello - I had to change betteries in the Harmony 520 remote. Now the remote seems to need to be re-programmed. How can I get it working again?

Hello
You need a computer and the CD rom for Harmony remote to reprogramme it.

Installation

1 Insert the rechargeable batteries into the Harmony One remote. Attach the AC cable to the charging dock and plug the AC adapter into an AC outlet.

2 Set the remote onto the charging dock to fully charge the battery. Wait until the charging indicator light is completely green before removing the remote from the charging dock.

3 Write the make and model of each device you want to program into the Harmony One remote. You need both the manufacturer and the model number for your devices to properly pair with the remote.

4 Insert the software CD into your computer's CD drive. The software will install automatically. Once installation is complete, attach the USB cable to the computer and attach the other end to the Harmony One.

5. Create an account and follow the software instructions to complete the setup process. Your account allows you to customize your remote settings whenever you desire.

6. Enter each device on the "Setup Devices" screen. Indicate how you want the devices to work with the remote. You must know how your devices are connected to pair with the remote. Update your remote by transferring software information to the Harmony One remote.

7. Test the Harmony One by following the directions on the remote LCD screen. Push the "Activities" button to test the desired activity. You may also customize and adjust your settings in this mode.

Pairing the Harmony One

1. Start the Harmony One remote software and access your account. Press the "Devices" tab. Press the "Settings" button for the piece of equipment that you want to pair.

2. Pick the "Confirm Infrared Commands" option and press the "Next" button. Press "Yes --- I have a remote for this device."

3. Connect the Harmony One to your computer to begin the communication process. Set your original remote 2 to 5 inches away from the bottom of the Harmony remote. Push the "Power Toggle" button.
Setting Date and Time

1. Pick "Options" located below the LCD screen next to "Devices" on the Harmony One remote.

2. Scroll to "Date and Time" below "Slideshow."

3. Pick the appropriate year and then choose the correct month. Select the day, hour, minutes and "AM" or "PM."
Using Device Mode

1. Access the "Activities" screen and select "Devices" located at the bottom of the LCD screen on your Harmony One remote.

2. Scroll through the list of devices and select the device you want to access.

Remove Any Docking Stations or Port Replicators From the Computer Note: Docking stations and port replicators are optional equipment. If you are unsure if you have a docking solution attached to your computer, refer to Table 1 and Table 2 for examples. To remove the docking station or port replicator, perform the following steps: Shut down the computer. Remove the docking station: Universal Docking Stations: Disconnect the docking station's USB cable from the computer. D/Port or D/Dock: Remove any cable locks from the security slot on the right side of the docking station. Move the slide lock forward to the unlocked position. Press the Eject button and lift the computer from the docking station. C/Port II or C/Dock II: Remove any cable locks from the security slot on the left side of the docking station. Pull the locking lever forward until it stops to eject the computer, then slide the computer out of the docking station. Plug the AC Adapter into a Known-Good Wall Outlet Verify the wall outlet is known-good by testing it with another device, such as a lamp. UPS devices provide temporary power for a computer when there is no electricity available from the wall socket, such as during a power outage. Plug the power cable into the known-good wall outlet. Power up the system. Replace the MiniPCI Door, Rubber Feet, and System Motherboard

Tomtoms usually use a mini-usb connector. So you should be able to use a mini-usb to usb cable instead of docking station

Tom tom home does not see my tom tom go 520

Hi canal_boat_m

Try this solution:

STEP 1 Un-install Tom Tom Home from your PC

STEP 2 Click on the link below:

http://tomtom.com/lib/img/cs/S4S/files/RemoveRegEntries_TTGOv1.exe
This will download a little removal program for the Tom Tom Home program.
A Black window will appear briefly then close.
• Make sure that you have got Administrator rights on the PC. Otherwise you may not be allowed to connect new hardware (especially the case when using office computers)
• Reboot your PC

STEP 3 Visit Tom Tom website and download the current new version of Tom Tom Home and install it to your PC
STEP 4 Connect the TomTom

• Make sure the device is fully charged before connecting it to the computer. Ideally a mininum of 4 hours charge.
• Reset the device using a paper clip (see http://www.tomtom.com/6965). When resetting, keep the reset button pushed in for at least 20 seconds, but DO NOT turn the device back on just yet.
• Ensure that your TomTom has power connected to it. There should be a green light on the TomTom unit. If your device came with a Home Charger, please make sure that is plugged in to the TomTom also.
Your Tom Tom should ask you to 'Connect to Computer' if it does tap YES.

SOLUTION:
Your unit should now be recognized by your PC.

IF IT DOESN'T then follow the instructions below:

1. Connect your unit to your PC;
2. Copy two folders to your PC (namely 'Raster' and the one which holds all your maps - probably called 'United Kingdom and Eire';
3. Using Windows Utility, right click on the Tom Tom drive unit and select Fomat;
4. Switch off the unit and soft-reset it with a paper clip (but hold it in for at least 20 mins) and then re-connect it and power it up;
5. Tom Tom Home should now detect the unit and your unit should ask you to 'Connect to Computer' so tap YES;
6. Tom Tom Home will now say your device needs updating - and if you apply all the changes it will restore it to Factory Finished!
7. Then all's needed is to replace the two folders you backed up and any other items like mp3's and sounds, pics, etc.
