Question about Sony Walkman NWZ-S616F MP3 Player
Every time i plug in it shows instaling the driver after some time it shows problem installing the driver and my walkman is not detected by the pc.how can i solve it help me!!!!
I first found that when I plugged my player into my computer it
registered it as a MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) device and in turn
never showed up as a storage device on my computer. I fixed this by
going into my Control Panel -> System Icon -> Hardware Tab ->
Device Manager button.
Clicking on the “System Devices” tab should have “Walkman” or MTP
device. Right click on it and go to properties, now before doing
anything it should say “Location — —— Location 0 (Walkman)” if not try
unplugging the walkman and see if the MTP device you’re looking at is
removed from the list, just to make sure it’s the right device we’re
If you’ve confirmed it’s the Walkman, click on the “Driver tab” and click on “Update Driver…”. Then click on the “Install from a list or a specific location (Advanced)” option and click “Next”. Now select the “Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install.” and click next. It should now bring up 2 driver choices, one being “MTP Device” and the other “USB Mass Storage Device”. Select the USB option and select next, it will then install your walkman as a USB storage device and after that’s done. It should be a matter of unplugging and plugging the Walkman back in and it should show up on your storage options in “My Computer”"

I'm Using Windows XP (SP2)
I Had This Problem & found that if I Uninstalled the USB in Device Manager (Portable Devices) and rebooted the computer and let Windows redetect and install them. Some Help Below...
YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PLAYER PLUGGED INTO THE PC WHEN YOU DO WHAT'S BELOW, AS YOU NEED IT TO APPEAR IN PORTABLE DEVICES
To Get To Device Manager Quickly - Highlight My Computer On Your Desktop/Right Mouse It & Choose Properties/Choose Hardware At Top/Then Select Device Manager/Then Portable Devices/Highlight Your Player & Right Mouse Then Choose Uninstall/Exit Device Manager/Disconnect Your Player/Them Restart Computer..../When The Computers Ready Try Connecting Your Player Again It Should Work?
