Use of numbers on base of sigma lens

If you're referring to the numbers on the aperture ring, you don't use them. Simply turn the ring to its smallest aperture (largest number) and leave it there. Just use the lens the same way you use any other lens without such a ring.
The aperture ring is there for use with older cameras that don't control the aperture from the camera.

I don;t undersdtand what x bar is

"x bar" returns the mean of a series of numbers entered in "statistical mode".

e.g.enter 3, then press the "sigma plus" key (just above the "STO" key. Display will show "n = 1" and "STAT" will display to remind you that you are in statistical mode.

Enter 3 the "sigma plus" and you will see "n = 2" to tell you that you have entered two numbers. Keep doing this for a few more, then press "2nd x bar" and you will see the mean of all the numbers you entered, which is 3 if you entered all 3's.

To exit "STAT" mode, you have to press "2nd" then "CSR" (just above the 7 key), since the regular "clear" key only clears the pending entry.

Lots of simple statistical stuff you can do on the TI-30XA, read the guide book, available online at TI if you don't have one
