Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook

1 Answer

Skype Guys, Just started on Skype and for a brief moment I was able to talk, but then just stopped. I have right clicked on bottom toolbar to ensure the mic speaker is not mute. It is not, however does goes back to ticked sometimes, still I unclicked and still not worked. Went to Audio in control panels and restored default, I do have speakers as stereo headphones, but I guess I should have it as an internal speaker? Any help on this? All audio and voice is set as conexant, but dont know if this is correct...please help :)

Click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your webcam from there if you are have trouble with your webcam. Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question mark? right click to reinstall drivers or update driver Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10). http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Which-version-of-DirectX-is-on-your-computer Also during a video call at the top of your screen you will see an option to for a video call using yahoo messenger this might vary if you are using another messenger service Open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings you can make a free test call before you try to make a call. Make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio you can make a free test call if you cant get the microphone to work you can select learn about setting up your audio equipment. Click start control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice it's the same make sure that you have the right default microphone selected you should be able scroll to video settings to make sure you have the right settings. Open skype go to tools options scroll to audio settings or video settings on the right you will see webcam setting you can change the settings from there click apply after changing any settings also you can see the webcam there you can even take a snapsot also make sure your settings are correct for a video call. Click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick select audio from the microphone drop down list make sure you have the right one selected and in the volume box make sure the microphone box has a tick in it or Select the voice tab and make sure that you have the right media selected also select volume make sure the box for microphone has a tick in it Not Showing the Other Person Online Status b> When one of your Skype contacts is not online, they will not show up in your list of available contacts. It is possible to hold a conversation with someone who is not on your friend list, however; if you are trying to talk to someone you have previously chatted with but does not show up on your list of contacts, check to make sure that you have added the person. All of your added contacts will show up on your list; the ones who are offline will have a grayed-out Skype icon and the contacts who are online will have a green icon next to their name. If you cannot see the person's name, you may need to search for them and create a new contact. b> Availability b> Skype users have the option to change their availability when they are signed into the program. The status availability options are: offline, online, SkypeMe!, invisible, away, not available and do not disturb. If the person you want to talk to is signed in but has selected the "offline" or "invisible" availability, you will not see them as online. For the name to show up on your list of online contacts, the person must change their availability. b> Blocked b> If you cannot see a person that you have already added to your list, there is a chance that the person has blocked you. When a Skype user chooses to block you, you will not be able to see anything about availability. Even if the user is online and accepting messages, you will not be able to see the status and messages will remain undelivered. b> Video b> If you are trying to hold a video chat with a Skype contact but cannot see the person, there are several possible reasons. If either of your Internet connections are too slow to support streaming video, the video will not come through. If you have been chatting by text and switch to video, the other person will need to enable the video stream before you can see them. Other culprits can include out-of-date webcam drivers, unplugged webcams or another video-enabled application running at the same time.
Share Both Screens in Skype Sign in to Skype and right-click on the contact you want to share screens with. Click "Call" to place a call to the user. When he answers, the Skype call toolbar will appear beneath his avatar. Click the double square icon on the toolbar. This is the share button. Click "Show Entire Screen." Your screen is now visible. Ask the other person to click on the double square icon and then "Show Entire Screen."

This is true, especially if the video images break up. The best thing to do is to switch off the WEBcam and just use Skype with the mic. The audio will be clearer.
