ASUS P4S800-MX

My computer tech guy said its best to get the exact same board with the exact same chipset (sis 963 lua) to insure as best as possible that we don't have to reload all the programs again. Uhgggg!
Do you confirm with this as I am reluctant to go with the ASUS P4S8X-MX sold at microsource and pcplanetsystem as you recommended because of this and crayeon doesn't let me load the item into the cart...
Any thoughts on this?

Asus warrants their boards for three years. The average motherboard Co. warranties go for 1 year. The only other Co. that warrants longer is Foxconn. (Lifetime).
I doubt you will find a working P4S800-MX being I couldn't find P4S8X-MX board, (This board is newer).
First bios rev. 03-18-2005 for the P4S8X-MX MB. Yes you will need to reinstall windows. (It's not that big of a deal). Fact upgrading to a faster chipset means speeding up the over all system. While running the same hardware. So no I do not agree with you're tech. If you list all you're parts being used on the P4S800-MX board I'll see what other boards will support you're devices.
Memory, (Max speed MHz, DDR or SDR, how many DIMMS using).
Hard disk drive, (IDE, Model Mfg, size).
Video if any, CPU information
Here are a couple new boards you might want to consider.
These should support all you're devices.

Tiger can warrant the board for 1 year after the Mfg's 1 yr warranty for a price. Or you can go for the 2 yrs additional warranty.
The Biostar P4M80M4 Via Socket 478 MicroATX Motherboard.
Should support all you're devices.
The Biostar P4M900-M4 Motherboard - VIA P4M900, Socket 478 MB is real close to newer standards. DDR2 memory & PCI-Express video & STAT drives.
It's getting harder by the month to find a board to support older devices. Some sites charge more because people do not want to change out their devices. Sooner or later we all have to change. Best we can hope for is the later...
