It could be an electrical problem such as the alternator is going out, or it could be the ecu. You can take the alternator to be tested at your local auto parts store. The ecu can be tested at some import auto repair shops or by swapping it out to see if that changes anything.

My Garmin GPS no longer speaks the directions like it used to--still makes the beeps when pressing the buttons, but no voice giving directions

Check the preferences. You didn't say what model you have, but if your menu is the same as mine, here's how:
- go to tools (the icon is a wrench)
- navigation
- if "voice prompts" says "None" you've found the problem. Change it to "Guidance/Status"
One more thing to check:
- click "Back" and choose "Locale"
check the language selection (the one with the lips icon is for the spoken language) and change it if necessary.

Garmin Nuvi 1350 - will not power on unless I hold power button down for the 10 second reset. At this point, the device powers on until it reaches the "loading maps" point and then shuts down.

If your device is currently experiencing the following symptoms it may need to come in for service/repair:
  • The device powers on and freezes at the Garmin logo with no trademark or copywrite info displayed on the device which normally shows up below the logo. The device will not display the Main Menu and will not go into Mass Storage Mode.
  • The device powers on and freezes at the Garmin logo and then flashes a white screen briefly. The device then begins a loop of showing the Garmin logo and then flashes the white screen over and over again. The device will not display the Main Menu and will not go into Mass Storage Mode.
  • The device powers on and then freezes or shuts down when displaying the Loading Maps screen.
For service/repair of a device due to the three symptoms listed above please select "No - I would like to submit a follow up email" below this article. You will be taken to an email form that you can submit to obtain a Return Material Authorization number.
Please note: It is important to completely fill out the form with as much information as possible including:
  • Market Name: On the Road
  • Serial Number (listed on the bottom of the device)
  • Question Type: Repair Information
  • Provide a short description of your problem or question: nuvi frozen on Garmin Logo
  • Full Name
  • Contact Phone Number
  • Shipping Address

My 2009 toyota highlander with a rosen systemand sirius radio tuner, is losing presets almost every day now, was not until recently. Please help.

Solved the preset issue. It was an indication that my battery was going bad. The problem got progressively worse until one day my 4runner wouldn't start with a dead battery. It was the original battery and was due to be replaced. Replaced the battery and haven't had a preset issue since. Strange that it didn't affect the radio presets - only the satellite.

What do PO 171 and PO 174 system lean on my Mercury Sable?

Thanks for using FixYa. Codes PO171 and PO174 in your Mercury sable means a bad Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor as a bad sensor will cause the vehicle not to start. Also these codes indicate a lean fuel mixture. Check for vacuum leaks by spraying carb cleaner around the intake manifold and any vacuum lines. If you do not find any intake leaks, replace the mass air flow sensor. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Green light on but will not switch on

plug in your xl via the usb cable to your computer and let it charge a few hours, then press and hold the power button for up to 15 seconds.

do not use the car or home charger to intially charge your xl. they are to maintain the battery, not a rapid charge.

let me know if you need further help.
