All appliances should be installed so that they can be switched off without moving them!
however, turn thermostat beyond the "1" setting and they should switch off

Hi Iv got a Hotpoint fridge freezer iced diamond rfa52 it keeps switching on and off it seems when the fridge gets warm it turns back on my freezer is not defrosting but the fridge is then freezing again...

Okay, have you adjusted your cold temp knob inside the fridge part? There are two switches one in the freezer and one in the fridge you will need to watch it day by day until the optimum temp setting has been achieved same goes for the freezer if it defrosts that is the exact point where your freezer is at best! It takes patience so be patient and your problem will be solved! Good luck and thanks again for using fixya.com

My integral fridge has a small built in freezer at the top. The freezer door handle broke and the door would not shut properly. An engineer came out but brought the wrong part. He returned three weeks...

It is possible that in defrosting the built up ice on the freezer that you accidentally punctured a coil and that allowed the gas to escape. If you check the area you defrosted you may find a small nick. As the tech said, it should have nothing to do with the prior repair unless he was poking around in that area with something sharp. As for the long running that would not cause it to lose gas.

Need a fridge no more than 49.4 cm in width

although manufacturers stated width is 50 cm it is in fact 49.5cm (to fit 50cm) you need to measure the new f/freezer be carefull "all sizes are approximate"
a nominal 50cm should just slide in.....you need to go to your favorite local store and explain in detail, if after your explanation, it doesn't fit you are not legally obliged to pay for it.. take a witness......
and only pay a small deposit.

This is normal. This is a defroster to keep moisture from condensation from freezing the doors shut.

Hotpoint fridge freezer / howdens kitchen - no instructions!!

Luckily the hotpoint helpdesk admitted that the instructions for hanging the kitchen doors does not come as part of the standard instructions. There should be a seperate piece of paper with these instructions.

After some to'ing and fro'ing they managed to email me the required diagram.

Fitting an integrated fridge freezer!

Hi Gareth. I fitted a door to my Hotpoint hsz2321L today. I used self tapping screws through the brackets into the fridge door sides. Looking at the old fridge that came out showed that this was the method used previously. No seal is broken and so the fridge is working perfectly. I do have an issue re-fitting the door onto the new fridge though. The pivot hinge on my fridge doesnt give enough clearance and so it catches on the unit at the side of it. The old fridge (a Bosch) cad cabinet hinges that would sort of concertina out to give clearence. Anyway, good luck.

I have a zanussu fridge

Re. Zanussi ZK87/46EFS Fridge Freezer

The same symptom occurred in our fridge freezer. The fridge compartment warmed up whilst the freezer compartment continued to keep temperature.

The cause of our problem was diagnosed as a frozen sensor that controls a flap, that controls the flow of cold air from the freezer compartment up into the fridge compartment. We were advised to power off the fridge freezer (removing all food and trays from the freezer unit first), and to leave it to defrost for 24hrs. We needed to place a few towels on the floor of the freezer compartment to soak up the melt water. After 24hrs we followed the power up instructions in the manual (versions are available online if you have lost yours). Within a few minutes it was obvious that the fridge compartment was being cooled – Problem solved :)
