Reset Default Settings

I have activated the progressive scan which made the screen go black I cannot see anything to activate default settings via a menu, is there a way to reset the console without using the menu say a button combination or the like. If you could please advise me to what the fix may be.

Thank you for you assistance - I did try that but it did not reset the system into factory settings - it only reset some settings. but I was able to blind navigate through the menus and have now managed to deactivate the progressive scan.

    Cheers

How do I turn off pscan on a rca dro2oon DVD player

IMPORTANT:
If you don't have a Progressive Scan TV or you don't have the DVD player connected to the correct Input Jacks, and you activate Progressive Scan in the DVD player you won't see a picture! Don't panic-try the following:

First, press the PREV/VIDEO button on the front of the DVD player (it will go to the next video output option, which is an interlace output so a picture should appear on the TV screen). If that doesn't work, press and hold PREV/VIDEO button on the front of the DVD player for 3 seconds. Now, press the PREV/VIDEO button again (it will go to the next video output option, which is an interlace output so a picture should appear on the TV screen). If you still don't see a picture on your TV screen, make sure the yellow cable (provided) that is attached to white and red cable (called audio/video cables) is connected to the DVD player's PREV/VIDEO jack and the TV's Video Input jack. Change your TV channel to your TV's Video Input
channel that activates the TV's VIdeo Input jack where you have connected the yellow cable (page 9 of your manual has more information). This PREV/VIDEO jack on the DVD player always outputs interlace video, so you should see a picture on the TV screen.

As a last resort, you can reset the DVD player to the factory default settings:
Press and hold the STOP button on the remote control and the NEXT button on the front of the player at the same time - wait at least 5 seconds before you release both buttons

Can't turn off progressive scan from my panasonic dvd player

Page 15 of the operation manual suggests the following reset option if you cannot see an on-screen menu to change the DVD player's video output setting to INTERLACE (default):

While stopped, if any discs are in the unit, remove them, and then press and hold [PLAY] and [OPEN/CLOSE] together on the unit and then also press and hold [POWER] on the unit until "INITIALIZED" disappears from the television. (the remote is not required for this procedure)

Turn the unit off and on again. All settings should return to the default values. (it is not clear if this resets parental lock or not, but worth trying)

Alternatively, if you either do not have a copy of the manual, or you have misplaced it, you can download a pdf free online for this model DVD player. (no sign-up or subscription necessary)

Hopefully this helps somewhat - and the free pdf can guide you further if needed.

I can't turn the video ouput on.

It may be a variety of things:
1. Make sure your TV is set to the right input for the cable you are using (Composite, Component, HDMI, etc.).
2. More often then not progressive scan may be set. If your TV is not compatible with progressive scan then you must try the following to turn it off:
  • Look for an external button or remote control button that turns progressive scan on or off.
  • Remove any discs from inside the DVD tray with the power on, then hold down the Stop button on the front of the DVD player for about 10 seconds to see if this will reset the system to default (i.e. no progressive scan).
  • If this does not work, you will need to contact the manufacturer for the exact reset steps for restoring to default settings.

3. Lastly, the video processor could be malfunctioning. This would mean a technical repair.
Hope this was helpful. Thanks for visiting FixYa.com

Progressive scan activated, can not turn off

You should be able to access the setup/settings with your factory supplied DVD specific remote and de-activate the setting back to a non-progressive mode.

To set the factory default settings just do the following:
  1. Get the DVD-1600 manual
  2. Open to the page which shows you how to set the player to factory default settings
  3. Switch on the TV and click to the channel that you will watch your DVDs
  4. Switch on the DVD player and make sure there is no disc in it - this ensures the DVD is not already in a menu or any other thing
  5. Follow the instructions in the manual to the 'T' although you will be unable to see anything
  6. If you follow the instructions correctly you should get back to 'interlaced mode'. By this time you will be able to see the DVD output on the screen.

I had this same problem once. Go on your dvd menu and go to settings and hit "reset default settings". That worked for me. Hope this helps.

Reset to factory defau;ts

Small print in the manual says to hold down the 100/P.Scan button on the remote to toggle between progressive and interlaced. This was after I blindly tried to follow the setup screens in the manual and found that the manual doesn't match the exact screens (must be a firmware difference?) in the manual.

Also found that the factory default instructions in the manual do not include a yes/no confirmation screen.

How do you turn off the progressive scan

I own this model and do have the manual; however, standard AV and S-Video connections do not transfer progressive scan video images. If you hookup a progressive scan output to a non-progressive scan TV input, you will not get an image, so it is probably the way you have your machine connected to your TV that is the problem. If you are trying to watch regular TV through your machine, you will probably need to use a standard Coaxial Cable. I hope this helps.

How do I reset this ilo dvdr05

To reset to user defaults for mu1 with no video: 1. turn on dvd with no disc 2. press "setup" 3. press "down arrow" 3 times 4. press "enter" 5. press "down arrow" 9 times 6. press "enter" More than likely you changed from interlaced scan to progressive scan. If your tv does not sopport progressive scan there will be no video. The default setting is interlaced scan.
