Question about Memorex MVDT2402 24 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo

Muted t.v. channels

My television has recently developed a problem. Some of my cable channels do not have any sound, yet others do. Also, some of the other channels have sound that is in another language, or not in synch with the picture. Like I said, this has not been a problem the entire time I've had the television, it's only developed recently. If you have a solution, I'd really appreciate it.

Hi lildreamer05,

Many stations broadcast seperate audio channels to allow commentary or alternate languages to be heard if desired. I recommend navigating your audio settings and looking for "SAP." If this is selected, turn it back to "Stereo," "Mono," or whatever other option is applicable to your audio setup.

Thank you,
Jason,

I cannot get a picture on any channel. Not hooked to cable. No antenna. What is the problem?

Hi,
Most of the TV sets have " Picture Mute" feature which means; if no signal exists on either Antenna plug or on Video input (RCA jack) no picture at all.Blank screen..no audio as well..all MUTED..
to test it ,play a DVD ,you must have pictures and audio together..
Use an antenna ( even a piece of plain cable will work ) ,and run "search" ,you must receive some TV channels thru AIR.

Can't get sound on channel 4 only. Any ideas? The sound is fine on all other channels and there is sound on channel 4 on my other TV sets. I've tried pushing the mute on the remote to see if it was muted...

You might try resetting the TV to the default (look in the Menus for a Options or Tools menu and a command like Restore Default or Memory Recall). Then exit the menu (and save the settings). Return to the menu and rescan all channels.

I do not know if this will help in your case but it is a simple thing to try. I have a tv (a different manufacturer) that had a similar problem. When my outdoor antenna was pointing directly at transmitter, the closest station gave me no audio on one sub-channel and no video on the other. All the other stations were fine. Doing the reset and subsequent rescan resynched the audio and video for the sub-channels.

I hope this helps.

HDTV with descrambler, I need a channel lineup for all channels without a cable box for Suddenlink cable in Bossier City, LA (the digital numbers like 17-2...etc). I have many channels now, but need a list...

I discovered last year what you just recently discovered. Cable TV providers transmit digital signals over cable using what is known as a QAM signal. Most new TVs (but not all) are equipped with a QAM tuner (check your owners manual in the specs section). Your cable company sounds like a kinder more humane provider, just like mine. There are no federal regulations regarding what cable companies can or cannot do with QAM transmission. Most of the big providers such as Comcast scramble most or all of these signals, forcing the customer to pay extra for cable box rental. But some of the smaller providers allow all of their basic tier, non-premium channels to be transmitted freely, meaning that if you are not interested in PPV or premium channels, you don’t need a cable box. My cable provider (Service Electric Cable TV of Lehigh Valley, PA) initially did not print any QAM channel line up, so I went through each one, wrote them down, and created an Excel Spreadsheet so I had my own printed line up, which turned out to be a good idea, because my carrier has made several changes over the past year in their line up. Later, they did post a line up on their web site, but promptly made more changes without updating the line up so my advice to you is to create your own.

Quasar VV-1302: Cannot Program Cable Channels

If you let it autoprogram and all you get is channel 103. Move the TV back to the old connection and see if it autoprograms all the channels there. If that works ok then you have a problem with the cabe line that only has channel 103.

The sound won't work on my tv unless it is a dvd or vcr tape is playing or my video game system is playing. other than that I get no sound out of the tv at all

If you are using a cable box to recieve tv channels make sure that the sound is not muted on the box, usually you get a small icon indicating that the sound is muted. The other cause of the audio loss could be a problem in the sound processing circuit(IF circuit) you will need to take the set in for an estimation in that case, some troubleshooting will be required. If you are using a cable box one thing you can do is to run some dubbing cables from the a/v jacks in the located in the rear and connect them to one of the tv ext. inputs(like you are connecting your dvd, vcr) this should give you audio when viewing your tv channels. please leave good feedback if i answered your question satisfactorily.thanks

When I turned on my Toshiba tv today, it has no

Sounds like the speakers have died, it's muted at the source (cable box / satellite box if you have one) or that the cable for audio is loose. Check those three things starting with the last one and you will be able to pin point it.
