It sounds as if there are minor corruptions in one or more files/folders
Connect the device to the PC .Close Home ,Open My Computer .the Tomtom will be recognised as a mass storage device Explore it and delete all the loose files that are not in yellow folders .
Then allow Windows to run an error check ;
Go to Start > My Computer. Look for a removable drive called "TOMTOM" and right-click on it. Select Properties > Tools > Check now. Check the box next to "Automatically fix file system errors" and press Start.
In Home v2.xx
Tools/Preferences/Folder preferences/Downloads/Browse and delete the downloads folder
Exit Home by right mouse clicking the HOME icon in the Windows sys tray ( next to the Windows clock ) and select exit and then relaunch HOME again via Start > Programs. ( this will create a new downloads folder)
Log-in again and click on download your updates
In Home reinstall the application and map and this will be rebuild the operating system on the device .
Always ensure that you disconnect the device in HOME using DEVICE > DISCONNECT DEVICE , Never just pull the USB cable out . This will prevent chances of the device crashing or freezing.
If you arent sure of anything please feel free to contact the support line ;
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones). click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Good luck!

In which language? This is really more a mathematical problem than a programming/compilation one. Try walking the circumference of the circle, testing for a point along each of the triangle's segments. If only one such point can be found, or a series of consecutive points (since software "circles" are never true circles, they're made up of short straight segments), then you have a tangent.
You can save a lot of time and math by making coarse estimates first - for example, don't bother testing for tangentiality for any circumferential segment that's fully above, to the left or right of, or below, all three points of the triangle - you CANNOT have a tangent in those areas.
An alternate approach is... walk the triangle instead of walking the circle. Test for a single circle crossing point. Again, you can save time by checking each segment first, and walking only segments that actually cross the circle's circumference. If no part of the circle can be found mathematically between any pair of vertices, then discard that segment outright.
This means the application has not loaded or it has an issue with the application. Download the full instructions from tomtom website to reinstall you tomtom with fresh application and program etc. YOU MUST back up your device first and ensure you have a copya of the map as you cannot download this. make a backup first and use tomtom home program to install the new application, copy your map back to the device etc. the instructions from tomtom are pretty straightforward to follow. Also contacting tomtom support will get you help in reinstalling the application.
i had a simalar problem -i asked for an update off garmin and they sent me a disc with apdated maps but didnt tell me i had to first delete the loaded maps you will have to go on the garmin website and order the FREE update disc for uk and ireland and just follow the instructions when you recieve it hope it works for you ;>)
Same here today. Had to replace all the files with those I copied and burnt to a backup CD when I first connected the ONE. If I try just a map update through Home (not an application update) then I get a "No Maps" message after startup. I'll bet dozens of perfectly good units are being replaced by retailers everywhere. I am now going to seek an explanation from TomTom. It may just be that the current updates are buggy or corrupted. At least I had the sense to back everything up before I tried to update the thing so I can quickly get going again. Spent about three hours so far faffing about with this "plug and play with yourself" little marvel. Bah!
Hi, I am back, just got the problem solved, I called their tech support at no charge (866-486-6866, Glen) , really good service.
First turn your firewall off (if you have one). You need to go into your 720 with the TomTom Home software and erase the downloaded software (with the remove items from my device) and reset the device (little reset button under the unit keep it pressed for 5 seconds), place it back in the cradle and restart your computer and than restart the 720 , bring the TomTom Home program up, and when the TomTom Home software in your computer restarts and detects the 720 it will tell you that you need to update the application, if it doesn't than you force the update by going to the add maps option, select items on my computer, select applications and press the add button, when done, go back and to device (option in top of your screen) and select disconnect device, restart your 720 and it should be back to life with the upgraded software.
Hope this helps
