Hi there

I recently bought myself an Ipod Nano for $200, then about a month later i walked into the corner of a table, the screen also had these "Ink" blotches. I took my Ipod to Apple and they quoted me $180 to replace the screen, this is only $20 less than when i bought it and when i bought it, it came with software and ingraving on the ipod, so i might as well have gotten a new one.

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is purchase a new one or repair the screen. I left my Ipod at Apple and i have not picked it up, i don't think i am going to.

Thank you for using FixYa. Have a nice day and please remember to rate this solution as FixYa! if it helps you.

I would also like to tell you that you can try to get them to accept your warranty. When i took mine in, they would not allow it that is why i decided to get rid of it.

The blotches on the screen indicate damage to the LCD diplay. I hate to give bad news but the best option is to contact apple to check your warranty status.

Hope this helps

Sounds like it's broken. Not likely to be easy to repair.

Will not charge or turn on

Plug your Ipod into your computer. Hold down both the Menu Button (on/off button) and the center button( just below the screen) for 15-30 seconds. You should see the Apple sign after that time. Mine died and was revived this way.

I dropped my ipod classic 80 gb. It can't be detected when i sync to my computer. I did a hard restart but it it says that my files will be deleted when i restore it with itunes. I dont wanna lose my files...

The only way to save the files is by connecting it to pc and storing them in a file. Try checking the usb connection inside the ipod. If there are any broken wires or solder joints, re-solder them or anything you can do to get it to connect.

Try connecting it, go to control panel, the ipod should be able to found on the I: drive.

White scrren on ipod classic but works on itunes

Is your ipod still under warranty?
If so make an appointment at your closest Apple Store and they will replace the iPod for you at no charge.
If it is out of warranty, you may need to replace the LCD.
If you have dropped the ipod the LCD could be damaged and not be cracked.
Try restoring it in Itunes and see if that helps.
If not Replace the LCD and you should be fine.

I would get the battery replaced. Unless you have dropped it or thrown it it is just the battery.

Can't remember password

I had the same problem. And I coudn't remember my SCREEN LOCK Password as your son. So what I did was I just disconnecteed my IPOD while it was connected to itunes without properly ejecting. This method doesn't retrieve or resets the password, it justs opens your ipod out of the screen lock. so your son can hear his music as usual until he can get a password retreive helper.

Dead Player

Hmmm...the MP3 parts shouldn't have lined up with the iPod dock. Check that area for damage in case your son accidentally forced it. Otherwise, hold the power button for 15 seconds. That can occasionally jump-start my player, and it turns the player off even if it is frozen.
