Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have an RCA HD TV model 61LPW42 - it was working fine until we moved from NY to MD three days ago. Verizon FIOS came and hooked it up and wow is the picture great. But we can't get any sound. We have tried a different cable box, different cables, and still no sound.

I have Philips 15PF9945 (15"

If the last problem happened at first, I would blame the power supply since this is a very common point of failure. You have had so many different problems preceding it dying completely, it sounds you should plan on replacing the main board and the power supply. The failures you first had all point to the main board where most of the signal activity processes happen but the fact that it will not even light off now point to what I would call a 'lemon.' If the set is more than 2-3 years old, it may have still been built by Philips but all the newer sets under that name are now built by Funai, the worst Asian manufacturer of all.

My husband bought me your DVD Recorder Model No. DMR-EH75V for Christmas in 2006. It worked with my analog TV and a COMCAST cable box. In April 2007, I bought an Olevia HD TV and changed to a Verizon...

Hi,

Due to certain limitations of the Panasonic DMR-EH75V, it can only accommodate composite Video INput and give composite Video OUTput as well as the standard Audio L/R. Additionally, if your Verizon FIOS HD cable box has an RF OUT, that can also be connected to the RF/CABLE IN of the Panasonic.

Please refer to the simplified diagram below.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

HDTV goes blank when connected to Fios HD-DVR or Fios DTV recvr.

If you can first connect the Fios box via component and that will rectify the issue and still allow HD. HDMI is funny, if there is anykind of communication issues between the TV or the Fios box you see what happens. You might also call Samsung to see if there is ANY firmware/software updated for your TV specifically to fix such an issue with the Fios/Mortorola connection. If there isn't then the issue is the cable box since the TV works ok on HDMI with other devices.

Philips TV HDMI CEC EasyLink tries to control Cable set top box

I finally found a fix to this! YAY. I thought I might have to return the TV. I have the Phillips 42PFL5603D, but should work for other models.

On the TV press menu picture settings---picture---dynamic contrast (turn off) AND active control, turn off
If you have Comcast Moto box: on the Cable box go menu--->setup--->cablebox set up---RF BYbass set to ON
If you have a non-Comcast Moto Box, I'm sure there is an RF bypass setting in the menu. You'll just have to look for it. Another fix was close saying to only turn of the active control, but it took all 3 of these for it to work consistently. The latter let it work for all of 30 seconds.

Zoom Function and Verizon Fios TV

On the verizon FIOS tv box, turn the FIOS STB on, and turn on the tv, tap the following buttons on the Verizon FIOS STB )in this order) 1-Power, then Select, then Menu. This will bring up the FIOS STB HD options. Arrow down to 4:3 Bypass and set the bypass option to 480P. Hit power 2 times, once to turn off, second time to turn STB back on. This should on standard channels give you the zoom feature back. This worked on my Samsunf 5053 TV model.
