Clueless re: video card

This is so damn complex I can't believe they even sold this to me.

What the heck is the FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH and FIFTH thing to do to install this stupid e-geforce 6200 card on my xp machine. . what the heck - none of these instructions carry you right from beginning to end, even the one with all the "edit" instructions - as if I know where to do that.

Free download ATI RADEON X1650PRO 512MB AGP GRAPHICS VIDEO CARD

Click here to get the latest available drivers for your ATI Radeon X1650Pro.

On the right hand side of the page their is a quick driver download section. With a heading Download drivers.

Select the following:
First field: Desktop Graphics.
Second Field: Radeon X Series.
Third Field: Radeon X1xxx Series.
Fourth Field: Select the operating system that are running this graphics card on.

Now click View results.
Then it may say that you should use the ATI Catalyst 9.3 Driver, however the 10.2 version is available for download. I would try it first just in case it works.
If not you will have to download and install the Catalyst 9.3 Driver.

Take care!

I want to drive 5 displays from one pc. can i install a matrox 9148 and use the onboard grpahics card shipped with my pc for the fifth screen. it is an NVIDEA GEforce card.

No, you cannot do that, they are different brands, are using different video drivers and Windows cannot run more than a single video driver at a time.

Hi - I believe you might be suffering from one of two (or even both) problems. The video card sucks lots of power and I believe has a separate power connector on the card that should be connected. The type of connector varies with manufacturers; from a four pin floppy disc type to a molex type connector or even something proprietary.
Secondly -- It's recommended that you have a 350 watt or higher power supply in your system.
Either issue could keep your machine from booting.

Yeah, what the heck is that about? I was in the same boat and was able to find out. Here's a link explaining everything and how/where to connect it. Thanks to Gabriel Torres at Hardware Secrets. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/How-to-Use-The-SPDIF-Connector-Available-on-GeForce-Video-Cards/600

(doesn't matter that the article is about GeForce card, same deal)

can't say for sure but I would believe it would have to be with your power supply, you might not be getting enough power out to run the card. Try putting in a different power supply and see if that works.

Somehow lost all photos on 512 mb memory card. any chance to retrieve them?

you can recover deleted photos from memory card with asoftech photo recovery program.
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended asoftech photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.

Your card certainly will support two monitors. It has two connectors and they are accessed by the nVidia software, available from the manufacturer's website. The link to find the latest version is below. You need to select '7 Series' in the second pull-down menu, and in the third you'll have to select your operating system. The software is a bit confusing, but I have the same video card in my computer, so if you need further help, please post your question / results by reply to this conversation.

Graphics breaking up

Well, just for kicks... It's a heatsink and not a fan on there? Maybe when playing games, open the case, put a household fan on to circulate the air especially on the videocard. Heatsinks are a temporary replacement in case the fan goes out on the video card. I use heatsinks as a quickfix for video cards at my job...but they aren't playing games on the PC, so the video cards aren't really going to heat up. Yeah, it does sound like a faulty card, but maybe the above tips will allow you to still play games with the card.
