There are two levers at the top of the fuser that have envelope icons on them. These levers reduce the pressure on the fuser assembly for thick stock.   If you leave them in envelope mode and run thin stock there is inadequate pressure on the fuser rollers to press the toner onto the paper.  Hence a lighter output.  I found this problem at one of my current client locations.  Hopefully this helps.

Oki b410d printer has a new toner cartridge however it is still printing inconsistently on the page?

Open the lid. Mounted under the lid you should see a horizontal bar which is actually the laser [LED]. Once your toner cart has emitted, enough loose toner has accumulated on the laser that it can no longer draw on the page correctly. Using something soft and barely dampened with water [use a soft cotton cloth, NO PAPER PRODUCTS, no dirty rags, etc] and wipe gently from L to R to remove the loose toner. Turn to a clean section of the cloth and do it once more. GENTLY! No pressure, do not scrub it, or you can damage the laser. Close the lid and print something. You should be back to good now.

also check the -Advanced- tab for a possible -Toner Save Mode- option.

Printing spots vertically in 2 areas on both sides of paper. no manual and can't get into it online - how do I clean whatever needs cleaning?

Open printer and remove the cartridge and check t see if there is toner spilled inside. These types of defects are often caused by a bad toner cartridge. If you do see toner inside, you can wipe it up with a soft cloth or a swiffer if you have one. Do not use a standard vacuum to clean it as the toner dust is so fine it will get into the air and into your lungs. Try a different cartridge. You may have to print 050-100 pages to clear the defect.

Prints with lines to the right margin of the page. How can this be corrected?

This can depend on if they are white or black lines and if you can feel a texture on the paper. Most often the cause is a bad toner cartridge. If you are using generic toner cartridges, I would suggest trying a new HP one instead to see if it clears up. If you feel a deep texture to it, the fusing unit may be wearing out and need to be replaced.

How do I clean the drum on a brother mfc 8860dn

Follow thesesteps : 1. Open the printer and remove the toner cartridge. 2. Inspect the drum for obvious damage. If it's damaged, don't try to clean it; replace it. 3. Remove any large spots of toner on the drum with tweezers or pliers. Be careful not to scratch the surface. 4. Dip a cotton swab in a rubbing alcohol. Gently swipe any visible soil. 5. Put a couple of drops of alcohol on a soft, lint-free cloth if the entire drum looks dirty. Carefully wipe the drum. 6 Check the other parts for dirt while you have the cartridge out. Carefully clean them. 7 Reinstall the cartridge and print a couple of test pages. If the problem persists, you probably need a new drum.

Printing is not clear on the right side of the printed paper. Even when a new ink cartridge is installed the printing is not very readable on the right side of the printed paper.

Ok try this...... Somewhere around the toner bottle, should be a piece of glass covering the laser from getting toner in it, remove the glass and clean it. Let me know if this works.

Old LaserJet 4L working perfectly. Just bought new generic toner cartridge and now getting shading over entire page, turning paper an almost-even gray, darkest at left edge. I'm suspecting cheap cartridge...

You're right about the cartridge and I suppose cleaning it means all the toner that the generic cartridge dumped. Turn off the machine, take out the cartridge and use a vacuum cleaner and a soft brush to get that extra toner out. After that use a soft cloth (not terry) to wipe down the inside.
