Spray arm jets probably blocked. assuming you can rotate the spray arm by hand and it is free, take spray arm out and clean.

I have an error code f4 on my whirlpool adp 8966 dishwasher can you tell me what it means please

F4 indicates draining failure.Your washer drain pump starts and after 4 minutes the OWI(optical water indicator) detects that mashine is 'not empty'

Posible mailfunction reasons:
The drain pump must be defective/blocked
The siphon would have got closed
The control board would have got damaged
OWI defective

Hi I have a Hotpoint Bwm20 washing machine that will not go into spin cycle, it doesn't appear to be draining down. I've cleaned out the filter and overflow and all is clear. Please help? thanks

Isolate from electrical supply.Remove plinth which gives access to drain pipe and pump - drain, remove plug and and any debry, then check that pump revolves freely. Remove top and ensure that the tube connected to pressure swich isnt blocked.

Not washing

first check to make sure the water supply line to the unit, isn't kinked and the valve is completly open. then i'd try using a solvent that removes calcium deposets[clr or something similar] in with a few cycles. then i'd start looking for a motor.

The revolver in the middle isn't spinning.

I assume that the machine is a Kenmore / Whirlpool direct drive, top load with neutral drain and that the "revolver" is actually the agitator.

There is a Sears repair parts site:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and a list of major sub-components will come up.

Since it isn't agitating (I assume not at all rather than just the top part of the agitator. If just the top part isn't turning then the easiest solution is replacing the 4 "agitator dogs" ) the solution points to a couple of places.

1. The motor coupler

#13 on diagram Coupling, motor and isolation Number:3364003Substitution:285753A $18.50

In stock may be broken. This piece is a fail safe between the motor and transmission. and basically transmits power to the transmission.

If it spins and drains OK, and if you can hear the motor turning, the problem points to the transmission.

Inside the transmission are a number of gears, springs, and plastic cams and levers. Over time one of them may have either broken or worn out.

There is a Whirlpool site with a parts list for their "commercial washer" which is essentially the same as for your washer. On it is a list of all of the components and parts for the washer.

By paging down to and following the diagram of the transmission you should be able to determine

which actual part is broken.
