Nikon d700 hotshoe missfire with flash nikon sb900

Probably a loose hotshoe. This is a common problem with the D700 hotshoe and SB900 combo. The weight of the SB900 eventually loosens the hotshoe, meaning the internal screws holding the hotshoe in place loosens.

Ok. If I use the AS 15 or any other hotshoe attachment.

The problem isn't with the AS-15, it's with the flash units. The trigger voltage on those units is too high for use with DSLRs without protection such as the Wein Safe-Sync.

Hye! can we use umberella lights with this cemers kodak z612 ?

To use umbrella lights, you need a hotshoe connection on top of the camera to attach a radio transmitter. This would set off the umbrella lights. Some high-end DSLR cameras do this very well.

Trigger a Speedlite 430EX II with a studio flash

  1. Make sure the trigger you are using is compatible with digital flashes.
  2. isolate the smaller contact so they do not "short out" on the trigger.
  3. make sure the trigger is working and will fire other flashes

Unwanted flash fire in nikonD200

Hi, I had the same sort of problem. It started with erratic small flashes but then evolved to the SB-800 not regonizing the D200 at all. The result of this is that I only get TTL and not TTL+BL+FP functionallity.
To solve this I cleaned the hotshoe on the D200 with all purpose cleaner for electical appliances (CRC 5-56). This gave minor improvment. Then I adjusted the spings to the left and right on the hotshoe on the D200 to press harder against the flash's connection (which I suppose is the grounding). Now everything works again.

Best regards,

Marcus

Canon 20 d 005 error with flash

This can be one of 2 things... either you are using built-in flash and its not popped up all the way, or you used flash on hotshoe and camera still thinks flash is on hotshoe. Known problem with microswitches on hotshoe sticking.

Mecablitz76 MZ5 remote

If you are using Pocket wizard you attach a hotshoe to pocket wizard adapter to the unit that usually fits on your camera hotshoe and attach this unit as usual to the 76mz5. There are various brackets that can secure and tidy the whole thing but you can manage without them if you wish. I got the paramount hotshoe to pocket wizard mini jack to do this £35 each from TFC and the bracket to fit the 76 MZ5 to a stroboframe bracket from speedgraphics at £17 and a one to fit the TTL controller to the 76mz 5 keeping it all tidy in all it cost £67 but makes a neet little unit that can be mounted on a stand and if you want to spend another £25 you can even attach a brolly. Great as a studio flash unit

will need more information, but the basic idea is to connect the trigger on top of your camera's hotshoe, and then connect the receiver to the flash.

When you attach the flas to the camera can exidentli fire. This is normal, and manufacturer recomendation, turn off the flas unit before attach or deattach, prevent this fireing. Fireing when you turn the flashead is not normal. Probably the mounting foot of the flash unit can move in the hotshoe, breaking connections between the connector pins, causing exidental fiering. Always lock the locking lever of the flas, wich can prevent this unwanted movement. Also chek the hotshoe on the camera, wich should to have a "leaf spring" keeping the flash unit steady.
