How are you supposed to heat up the green egg

There are you tube videos. I temporarily take daisy vent cap off top of egg, open bottom vent door wide open, light lump coal 2-3 spots with a loof lighter (from ace hardware) and then close lid. I have one section of galvanized dryer vent from Lowes that I stick on top which accelerates preheating of egg. Once the temp gets to 500, I remove the section of vent by grabbing it with a glove or hotpad. Wait a minute or two for smoke to die down. Place daisy back on top and close bottom vent door down to 1/2" and close daisy 1/2 on top and this should drop temp to 175-250. Use fine adjustments 1/6-1/8" until desired temp is reached. Your food can go on at any time after removing dryer vent. Just burp lid by slightly lifting to allow any heat burst to escape. I also have a gas conversion that works awesome. I just add a small smoke ox over burner that provides enough smoke on front end of cooking process. Advice- keep the butts and ribs on for 6 hours.

Black smoke stain

It could be from your Traeger. Have you tried using Tide soap. Tide has some chemicals that seem to cut through tuff stains. I use it on my roof to kill moss .

How to remove a heat-locked pan lid

Victory! Having tried:
- cooling it all down (#fail)
- then reheating the whole thing (#fail)
- then wrapping it in very hot, steamed towels (#fail)
- then using prodding, poking, and other tools of irritation to pry off the top (#fail)

I finally thought about how my kitchen tap water runs FIERCELY hot, this 12" skillet and glass lid were sealed to death - so I put the whole thing - glass lid up - in the kitchen sink and just let it run on top of the it. At first...(#fail) - but I let it run longer - and then I heard a very gentle, subtle: "pop"

It unsealed itself once the glass lid got quite a bit hotter than the skillet itself - as the water was cascading off without hitting that much of it directly.

Whew! Rescued: 5 Sweet Italian Sausages - intended originally to go with breakfast this morning - which will now serve as part of the "beef" for Sunday eve pseudo-po'boys on French rolls. We're serving these with spicy honey-mustard and a scrumptious pineapple and habanero chutney.

How do i get the max heat out of a charcoal Weber, re cover and bottom vents. Should they both be fully open? Cheers.

open the bottom vent all the way. after the grill starts close the top vent then put the lid just slightly off to the side. the top will hold the heat in and the grill will reach the max temp.

My Weber 3 burner gas grill is about 15 years old and still working well. It has wooden slats that I've replaced and wooden handle which I've restained with redwood stain. The one thing that I'm not...

Many places (K-Mart/Target) sell a high temp black paint specifically made for grills. You might try wire brushing it and repainting it.

How to improve heat on model 720-0649

I have the larger version of this and have problems as well. The biggest problem seems to be that too much of the back is open. Have a look at the back with the lid down there is problably a big gap between the lid and the back of the grill. I have talked to there customer service many times but they will not admit that there is a problem with the design. Problem is much worse on windy days when the wind form the back blows the heat to the front and heats up the control knobs so much that you can't touch them! Does this sound familiar?

Gas cooker on boat

Generally, black soot stains mean the gas/air mix has too little air. If you have an adjustment for the air mix, open it up a bit. Also (don't laugh)- small spiders love to build cocoons inside these gas/air tubes. That really messes up your flame!
