My son's PSP on/off switch went loose but when I pull it out there doesn't seem to be anything that will move with a toothpick or similar.

You can buy a power switch circuit board replacement part off of ebay for under $5 (typically shipped from China). Buying the circuit board is easier than buying only the switch, since it avoids having to do any soldering. The power switch board can easily be swapped out and a new one reattached by connecting a few connectors.

Why when i switch on my psp he cannot read my memory card and he will not turn on?

Hi p_demain,
First you have to figure out what is causing the problem. Try the following steps.

1. Remove anything that is connected to the PSP, including the
Memory Stick, battery and any UMD games.
2. Plug the charger into both the wall and the PSP system, then wait for at least 30 seconds before turning the psp on.
--If the PSP turns on, your problem is not with your PSP, but with an accessory that was previously attached. If it does not turn on, your PSP is in need of a repair.
3. Next, unplug the power adapter from the PSP, and firmly place the battery into the PSP.
4. Plug in the Power Adapter once again, and wait at least 30 minutes for the PSP to begin charging, then try and power on the PSP system.
--If the PSP does not power on with the battery plugged in, but it did with just the charger, you need a new battery. If it powers on, do the next step.
5. Place the Memory Stick inside the PSP , and turn on the power. If the PSP does not turn on, but it turned on without the memory, you need a new memory stick.

If your PSP did not turn on during step 2, it needs to be repaired by a qualified technician. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.

My PSP won't read the UMD's

that's odd, this has happened to me in a similiar way, except for me my PSP would keep saying "Do you want to exit the game?" For you two, i would recommend examining the discs and make sure they're not scratched too much. Also examine the inside of your PSP where you insert the UMD, is there a loose or broken piece. In my opinion, much like my PS2, the games get too scratched (despite being in that case) to function and will stop being real altogether, although i am still trying to figure out why all games stop working...
Hope this helped in any way

PSP wifi switch broken

Inside the PSP the switch has a small pin that engages with the switch. Likely this pin has broken, or has become disengaged with the switch inside the PSP. Take the back off the units and have a look... be careful and make sure you note where each screw goes.. and reassemble the same way- its not hard..
Good Luck
