Try formatting the xd card. The f20 has enough internel memory for a few pix, if the card is not working it uses internal memory. Also look for the number of pictures remaining if this is low the card is not working.

Will not allow me to take pictures give me an error code of write protect on the view screen

From another posted solution:

Write protection is a physical device that prevents you from writing or changing information on a disc. For digital cameras this is usually a "lock" slider on SD cards. Try sliding it to the other side if your getting an error.

On my card, there are some files that indicate a "File Error." What does this mean and how do I fix it?

It usually occurs with slower cards. Also with cards that have never been formatted in the camera. Sometimes the write process on the picture/video that you just took hasn't yet completed, while you switch modes on the camera, going to say video mode, or from video to photo mode. That last video or photo that was being written didn't get a chance to finish writing to the card, so part of it may be lost. You can attempt to recover some of them using recovery software (here's some to try). But overall the fix is to use a faster card (look for Class 6 "C6" or higher), and always remember to format your card at least once in your camera using your camera's format feature (keeping in mind that a format will also erase your card, so make sure that you've backed up your photos to your computer first!)..

I gotmy new finepix camera in December. it works fine but sometimes when I am looking back at pictures I have taken it say read error and cant see the picture. what is the reason for this and can I fix it?

There can be two reasons for this problem.
  1. Might be your memory card is not working properly. Thats why reading or writing errors occurs most of the time. Try again by changing the memory card.
  2. Sometimes the data writing process of the camera could e malfunctioned, if so you have to give this to professional camera repair center.

Blinking red indicator light

Hey pollyannac,
The red blinking light probably means either the flash is recharging, or the camera buffer is full and it is writing files to your memory card which the lcd monitor should read Busy while the camera is writing the files. If it is the flash recharging then you could try using more powerful batteries such as the Canon NiMH AA batteries. If the problem ends up being the camera is writing images to the memory card you could try getting a memory card that has a high write speed. These memory card are usually more expensive, but in my opinion well worth it. I hope this helps!

Card problem

I haven't had this problem with a Cannon card but it may be the same solution.
Take your card to a card reader, Walgreens, Target, or even your own printer or computer may have a card reader. If you can, view the photos get copies. Then see if a camera there can do what you cannot. Places like Best Buy have people there paid not by commission that love to help out to keep from having to look busy. If it's the card. Camera's aren't the best computers and formatting disks are not their specialty. It could be, the camera failed on one attempt and its program does not know how to deal with the failure. Computers on the otherhand like formatting memory and if they encounter a problem the isolate it and write arround it so it isn't a problem in the future.
Immagine you are writing a letter and their is a hole in the paper. So you stop writing and skip over the hole starting on the other side right? No problem when your reading it back you skip over the hole and keep on reading. You camera doesen't know where to go when it gets to the hole. It just knows the hole is an error.

Camera shows an error E30 message

Hi Chittu, This error usually happens when there's problem reading and writing from the Flash memory card (CF). Did you try to pull the memory card before the camera finished writing data? Here's what you should do - try using another memory card. If it works, it means that the original one is damaged. Let me know if this helped. Please rank this post.
