was your vostro 230 third generation? meaning, did it use DDR2 memory before or always had DDR3? They are not compatible. 2nd generation computers cannot use third gen parts. cpu, ram, most none of that type stuff. the motherboards are different and cannot change. if it was ddr2 memory you have to use ddr2, not ddr3, hope that helps.

I bought a 4gb ram upgrade and its still running slow why?

If the upgrade was added to the 2 GB of existing RAM, your computer will run at the slowest speed. That's why some manufacturers recommend replacing existing RAM with the upgraded memory

Can I add more RAM to my Averatec All-In=One A2?

Hey Nella Coffey

Unfortunately, more RAM cannot be installed due the limit of Slots available. However, you may be able to upgrade the current RAM modules and replace them. It appears it has 2048mb (2GB) of RAM which is possible split into two 1GB sticks. You "may" be able to upgrade to 4GB (split into two 2GB sticks). This is the current set up for the computer: 2048MB (4096MB max) SDRAM ' Memory Slots available for Upgrade: 0 ' Maximum RAM per available slot: 2048MB

Hi lchangkee...
If you want to upgrade your ram, all you do is remove the ram that is in the computer, and replace it with compatible ram (same number) an example of that would be if your ram was SODIMM 512MB PC2100 DDR 266 512 MB LAPTOP 200pin MEMORY, then that is the type of ram you will want to replace it with but more like this.
SODIMM 2GB PC2100 DDR 266 512 MB LAPTOP 200pin MEMORY notice the only thing that changed was the amount from 512 mb to 2 gb. Most memory cards can be removed without any problem...refer to your owners manual as to where the ram is located Please take time to rate me

Can I do a memory upgrade on Sony VGC -LS 37E?

the specs for your computer, it states that it is equipped with 2gb of memory 2x1gb and max at 2gb, so I doubt that any higher memory upgrade installed would work, or else it would cause your system to crash or even damage it.

I have a Dell Dimension 2400. I want to upgrade from 512mb of memory to 1GB. The manual says I have two memory connectors. Do I get the 1GB, or two 512mb to upgrade? Thank you for your response.

Hello

Yes, you can upgrade your system upto 2GB RAM, buy another 512MB RAM DDR 333Mhz and install it to empty slot of RAM, it will upgrade the RAM to 1 GB.

Hope it will help, if so do rate the solution

You can upgrade the memory to maximium of 2gb of ram 1gb stick of ram in each slot. The memory you will need DDR PC 3200 184 pin.

You can also upgrade the hard drive for more space or buy an external drive to store files.

Dell computer.5 yrs.old. Very, very, slow. What can be done? Have dial up internet service. Also, what does memory upgrade mean?

Hi,

There's nothing you can do about your internet speed, dial up is dial up and is known to be slow. If you want fast internet then you would need broadband.

A memory upgrade would speed up the overall performance of the PC. For example: the computer may take 5 minutes to fully boot up and programs taking time to launch. This would not fully resolve but help it to be more responsive.

A memory upgrade is always recommended by me. I expect that your computer can be probably maxed out to 2GB of memory.

Regards.

I want to upgrade my lenovo laptop ram memory from 1gb to 2gb by adding one more stick. i currently have ddr2 PC2-5300(333MHz) latency 5 5 5 15 2T RAM my friends advised me that BLUE SCREEN ERROR occurs...

The rule of thumb with RAM is to always buy matching pairs. So instead of buying one new stick of 1gb its a better idea to buy two of the same kind and replace the one that is currently in there.

Before you even think about doing this, head over to lenovo's website and make sure that the computer is compatible with 2gb(from the speed of the ram im assuming that it will, I don't know of many DDR2 computers that cant have 2gb.) you may also be able to get ram that is faster if it is compatible, The website will have all this info.

Gateway 500x upgrade ram installation.

hi! there if your addibg a memory card check your memory speed if match to other memory card that are installed already, they should have same speed e.g DDR PC228 or SDR PC333 so check this out before installing. But if you replace the older one upgrading, switch off your computer open cover, there is slot there for your memory card bedide your processor,at both end there a lockway, unlock your memory card and pull it out all if you have several one, then insert on one slot if that is one memory card at 2gb lock it on both end.then swich on your computer check this out on your computer properties if there is change.how to do this left click my computer, click properties.regards
