Question about HP Compaq Presario C304NR Notebook

No sound Have on sound at all.Have installed drive detective and it said that sound driver is updated.the little speaker icon @ lower right hand corner is missing.( though I just needed to turn sound up)what happen?

The sound card driver must be missing.

you can get it from here

uninstal the driver detective, unless you paid for it?
also uninstall the old driver and then install the new one from the website let me know if you need more assistance with this.

How toinstal sound driver from internet?

Use the right mouse button over the Windows icon if in Win 8 or go to the Control Panel with any version. Get to the Device Manager. Open it. Look for the separate options and locate Sound. Check for Update. If updated, then go to the Desktop screen, lower right Speaker Icon to see if the Sound function is working. Check the options as to what speakers are active. If no speakers show up, you need to set the option to activate the speakers you are using. If necessary, use the HELP Menu.

No sound, when I click on the little speaker on the right hand lower coner the sound level bar is moving but no sound

Check the sound ICON at the lower right of the screen. Make certain the options are Internal Speakers and not EXTERNAL Speakers. Test by using a head phone in the external port to see if the sound is diverted properly. If you have sound OUT at the external Ports, then Reverse the option to Laptop Speakers.

Got tot the lower right of the computer screen and open the Sound Icon by right clicking with your mouse over the ICON. Check the speaker setting there and look for the slider bar to see if the sound volume was near the top and/or if the speakers show up as being active in the system. If all seems correct, you may have to go to the Samsun web site, seek support/drivers and update the current sound drivers to get reset and operational. THE OTHER method is to go to your system DEVICES and run down the list to Sound. Open that and check all lines individually for Driver Update. The computer will seek an update of drivers from there also, and automatically do the work for you.

When i plug in the speakers no sound is coming out it doesn't work correctly i cant hear anything i'm playing.

Have you check all the Volume setting on you computer?
On the lower right side look for the computer Icon check if there is a red X on the speaker Icon, if there is then it can be that here is something wrong with the speaker driver or it does not detect the speakers.
If you do not see the speaker Icon then the Driver for the Audio card is not installed on the computer and you may need to re install that Audio Card Driver to be able to regain the audio from your Speakers.
Also the speakers should connect to the Green Audio Jack behind the computer, if it is then still no Audio you can try the Audio Jack in front of the computer as well to check the Audio Card in the Machine, if the front and back audio jacks do not detect nor produce sound when the speakers are connected then re installing the driver for the Audio card may work, unless during the installation an error shows that the there is no audio device detected then it means the Audio Card is busted.
Let us hope not since it is very seldom an Audio Card could go busted.

No sound

There are several troubleshooting steps you can do to solve this problem:

1) Check the connection to your computer's audio card jacks to make sure they are plugged into the right jack (A very common problem)

2)Go into device manager (In windows go to Control Panel - System-Hardware-device manager. Go through the list and look for Sound, Video, Game controllers. If nothing is listed, or if there is a yellow triangle next to any of the audio devices, reinstall the audio drivers for the computer's sound card. If the devices are indicated, with no indicators of driver issues then go to step 3

3)If your sound card has it's own utilities, there should be an icon in the system tray (Lower right hand side of the screen). Click on that, bring up the utility and check and see if mute is selected. If you don't have a utility such as that installed, there should be a little speaker icon indicating windows audio drivers. Click on that and check and see if mute is selected.

These steps should correct the problem. However if the problem persists, reinstall your audio drivers. Check again in device manager to see if your audio device is indicated. If it is, then your speakers may be defective.

Terrible sound

You may need a headset if 'feedback' is a problem
Check your webcam mic is set as default.
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

Click "Recording" tab.
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Configure your mic/ webcam to the chat program of your choice

  1. powered speakers connected to green output jack and turned on
  2. Sound enabled in the BIOS
  3. Sound driver installed
  4. Volume not muted

i have the same speakers...just right click on the speaker icon on the lower right hand side of your desktop. then click on playing devices then configuration and see if the speaker is in surround mode.
