Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I want to know how to forword port. I use D-link DWA-125 Wireless Adapter. I want to create DOTA(being a host). How can I do it?

Hi,
If playing DOTA is the reason why you want to forward a port from your dlink router, I don't think that it is going to be necessary.
To be able to HOST a game in dota, you need to either be in a network or in a virtual private network.
LOCAL HOSTING - this means that you are hosting a game to PCs connected to your LAN under the same router. All you need to do is go to Local Area Connection in Warcraft TFT then create the game you want to host. If your friends is not able to see your game, make sure that your windows firewall has Warcraft TFT in its exceptions. Or you can turn off windows firewall as a workaround each time you play DOTA.
VPN HOSTING - this means you must have a specific software to use to host your DOTA game so friends can connect to you even if they are not under the same LAN or router. Best example of a software to use is GARENA. Garena is a vpn software that allows you to connect to players around the globe. You need to register a username and password to use garena. Download and install Garena to your computer. Login using your username and password to use garena. Once logged in, choose the room you want to host your game for. Choose the one under your current location (e.g. Choose Singapore if you are in Singapore). When you connect to the room, click Start Game to start your warcraft. You can HOST dota games by going to Local Area network in Warcraft TFT and create your game with a valid dota map. Same in LAN, you need to put Garena on the exception list of your firewall for people to see your hosted game.

Hope this helps.

Well whenever I go to play online games (World of Warcraft, Allods Online, etc.) I have extremely bad Latency. I have been told by several people now its being caused by this new router. I have no idea...

Instead of relying on peoples opinions, try testing it for yourself. Remove the router and connect directly to your pc (I assume you have a modem somwhere). Does the problem persist?

If so contact your isp (a lot of gamer probs are caused by crappy isp's, they don't like people who actually use their connections, although they seem to be getting better)

If removing the router helped then maybe think about not using it, at least when you play games, or get a better one that gamers rate well. If you connect using wireless then don't, wireless is slower than using a cable, and will definitely increase your latency too much.

A traceroute would show you where the latency creeps up. It's been too long since I last did one and it's 2.30 in the morning here so you're on your own with that one, for now anyway.

I'll try to remember to look up how to do a traceroute properly tomorow and add it to this page. the command is tracert and then an option such as -a and then an ip address ( eg game server) so it'll look something like "tracert -a 92.56.178.76" but I can't remember the other options (or what -a does in this case). Also i'll think about how to speed your router up, if it is that causing your woes.

I hope i've helped a bit, if not then maybe tomorrow

Hello, My roommate and I play World of Warcraft...

I would reset the router to default settings and use the good version of the firmware. OR delete your existing internet setup and then re-add it (do this if you didnt factory default your router before upgrading firmware)

try inspecting your telephone line, that goes with your router there could be some loose connection, ensure that all connection were tight and secure. if this does not solve your prob, check if you have the filter on your telephome line

Talktalk dodgy internet

While I am not a BT user (I live in the States), I can say that, in general, there is nothing you can do in your router to increase your bandwidth.

With that said, WoW doesn't take a lot of bandwidth..people play it over dialup. Do you by chance have some sort of P2P software running that may be generating excessive network traffic?

Edimax Router BR-6140K Problem

Try to look for MTU settings on the router's admin page. Since your on DSL connection, set the MTU size to 1492 and save the changes. You need to power cycle the router after that. Good Luck!

Router

Can both devices be connected to the router and surf the web seamlessly? Do you have DHCP (router automatically assigns IP addresses) enabled or do you manually set your computers' IP addresses?
