We just purchased ipod headset model SHS370. Why is the cable not connected symetrically (evenly)? The left cord is shorter than the right side.

I have an ipod model a1199. i was wondering if you can use a newer ipod touch charger for it? and if not what kind of charger does it use?

Charge an iPod Nano Without a Charger
If you've misplaced or broken the charger that came with your iPod Nano, you might think you need to purchase a new one in order to continue using your Mp3 player.
However, there is a way that you can continue enjoying your iPod without having to purchase a new charger.
As long as you have a USB cord and a computer, you can charge your iPod without having the charger.

Locate the USB cord that came with your iPod Nano package.
It is the same cord that you use in order to sync or transfer music.
Plug the small end into your iPod Nano.

Plug the other, larger end into your computer's USB port.
Choose "Do Nothing" when your computer presents the dialogue box to let you choose what to do with the hardware or USB connection.
Leave your Nano plugged into your computer for at least 4 hours to charge.
Unplug your iPod Nano when charging is complete.
Charge an iPod Without the Charger
Many iPod owners purchase a charging unit that plugs into a standard wall outlet to recharge the iPod's battery.
However, the iPod wall charger is not included with new purchases, so consumers must either purchase a separate charger or find a way to charge their iPod using other means.
Here's a simple method to charge your iPod using your computer.

Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod.
Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer.

Open the iTunes program by clicking on the icon in the Dock on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC.
Click on the name of your iPod under the "Devices" heading in the main iTunes window.
Click on the "Sync" button to synchronize your iPod with your computer data.
While the iPod is syncing, the power from the USB port on your computer will charge your iPod's battery.

Unplug your iPod from the computer once the battery is fully charged.

This one should be ok.

How do I rename my ipod?

When registering your iPod, iTunes will ask you to give your device a name. If you choose not to give your iPod a unique name when configuring the device, iTunes will often give your iPod the default name of "Owner's iPod." If you grow to dislike your name, or were gifted a used one, changing the name on your iPod is very simple. You can change the name of iPod to whatever you like. Your imagination is your only limit.

Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB cord. iPods will only work with specific USB cords. If you have lost yours, you can purchase a new one from most electronic stores. Open iTunes. While iTunes usually opens automatically when an iPod is connected to your computer, sometimes that fails to happen. Double-clicking on the iTunes icon (you should have it on your computer's desktop) will open iTunes. Scroll down and left-click on the icon for your iPod. You will find it in the left hand-side panel of iTunes. Left-click on the current name of your iPod to highlight it. Type in the new name of your iPod and then left-click anywhere to save. My son got ahold of my iphone last night and changed the passcode on it and now he doesnt remember what it was. and i tried turning it off but it wont even turn off i need help please! thank you! :)

Your iPod most likely has now been disabled.
Step 1: Connect your iPod to your computer with the USB cable that came with the iPod.
Step 2: Open up iTunes and scroll down on the left side of the screen
Step 3: Choose your iPod, your right screen should now change to show some general information about your iPod.
Step 4: Scroll down on the right side of the screen until you see a button labeled "Restore". Click it, and it will unlock your iPod and reset it. This will wipe everything off of your iPod, but will sync it back with whatever you have in your iTunes library.

Step 1: Turn on your computer, and connect your iPod to your computer with the USB cable that came with your iPod.

Step 2: Open up iTunes on your computer.

Step 3: In iTunes, go to the left side of your screen and scroll down, when you see your iPod, select it.

Step 4: You should now see on the right side of your screen some general iPod information. Scroll down to until you see a "Restore" button.

Headset in problem at socket pin side

Try a different set of headphones - if these do not work, call Philips and redeem your warranty if it was purchased within the last year. Headphones can be replaced, but headphone jacls cannot be repaired.

Ipod classic video

You need a special 1/8" cord for video output. For example the standard 1/8" cord has 2 black rings on the 1/8 plug, each ring is a channel one for left side and one for right side. You need an 1/8 cable that has 3 rings on the plug, 1 for video, 2 for Left and right audio channels. It dosen't have to be an IPOD brand cable it just needs the 3 black rings.

Good Luck
