My subwoofer will not work with my receiver.

I had a similar problem where the subwoofer was working during calibration but not on TV viewing. Here is what I found:
  • That some listening/surround modes did not support the subwoofer.
  • Some receivers only support subwoofer with digital inputs.
  • Might also want to double check the speaker config and make sure it's has the subwoofer enabled.
  • I assume you're using the sub-pre-out to drive the powered subwoofer.
  • Have your tried a CD or FM radio station to see if you're getting the sub output from these sources?

Subwoofer not working.... JVC surround sound system 778V Subwoofer Part Number SP-PW37-SUB I hear a hum coming from unit so there's power going to it. I hear weak bass thumps with volume turned all the way...

A connectivity check could provide the solution, notice any wrong wire connections on device or any other devices requiring interconnection. The woofer would perform properly when the connections that provide current for woofing are approapiate

important notes
1. Trace the connection from Recorder or sound output to the woofer device
2. The wiring connections should be sound and video ouput into sound and video output into woofer.
3. The connections if any problems would be located at the stereo recorder or device producing the spund and video. Check the connections of wires on the recorder device ensuring rewiriing
4. finally, adjust the equalisers if any the buttoms could have been disbled by master switch hindering full blaster boost sound.

You need to use an amplified sub. The Yamaha receiver is only sending "Pre-Amp Signal" not amplified audio like the rest of your speakers. If your sub has a crossover built in, connect it's speaker level (wires) to the "B" side of the receiver which will send audio to your sub and it will cross it over internally. Not the best sounding, but it works. Amplified subs range in price from 200 and up. Hope this helps

SA-AX720 no subwoofer signal?

THIS UNIT HAS NO SUB WOOFER AMP IN IT. THE ONLY WAY TO OVER COME THIS IS TO HOOK THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT SPEAKERS STRAIGHT TO THE SUB WOOFER AND THEN GO FROM THE SUB WOOFER BACK TO THE INPUTS ON THE BACK OF THE UNIT FOR THE FRONT SPEAKERS. THE SUB WOOFER THIS WAY WILL EXTRACT THE BASS AND THE FRONT WILL RECEIVE THEIR PART. THIS SOUNDS CRAZY AS HELL I KNOW BUT THAT'S HOW I GOT MINE TO WORK. THE OUTPUT FOR THE SUBWOOFER IS USELESS AND PUT THERE FOR YOU TO HOOK UP AN AMP FOR A SUB WOOFER. EVERYTHING HAS SHORT COMINGS, AND THAT'S THE ONE FOR THE AX-720.

Sub

Most amplified sub woofers need to be grounded to the output source. If you plug the sub woofer in to the receiver you would use a ground wire from the receiver to the sub woofer there should be a ground terminal on the sub woofer and receiver.
