Me too. I have a Yamaha HTR-5950 and can't get the comcast remote to work with it. Tried 0176 and 1176 as well. Also, tried the "search for you code" method without luck.

Me too! Can't get the Comcast remote to work with the codes (3)0176 or (3)1176, nor can get the remote to locate the code by serching. I have an older Yamaha receiver model RX-V800. I called Comcast Tech Support - I might as well have asked my cat. Does anybody have an answer?

I cannot find the right code for mine either! I have a HTR-6130. I've tried 0176, 1176, 0030, 0490, 0539, 0545, 0354...and I've tried searching for the code. I only want to use my comcast remote to turn on/off and volume control. Help!

The volume keys should be working by default, but you may have volume punch through turned on (meaning the remote is sending signals for TV or CABLE volume function no matter what mode you are actually on). To unlock volume control for AUX mode, do the following:
1. Press and release AUX
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 993
4. Press and release VOL-
The remote should blink four times to confirm unlock.

The 0176 code works on my RX-V663 to control volume. Make sure that the Comcast remote has been reprogrammed for the AUX device to control volume. By default the volume will always control the TV volume. You can find how to do this on the Comcast website.

Hi robches

Odd, what model Comcast do you have. Yamaha remote codes have been pretty much the same for 20 years. Even the oldest receiver remote will still work the vol on a newer unit. Get back to me with the model of the remote and I will see what I can work out for you.

Yamaha rx-v1400 internal issue. what do we do next?

It will need to go to service. It's usually 5 caps and a couple transistors that go bad.
Usually from a power surge or brown out. depending on where you are located will
determine where to send it.
enter your zip code and you will be directed to the nearest Authorized Yamaha Service Center. The average cost for this repair is between $200-250. Sorry for the bad news!
Excellent receiver!

My comcast remote won't turn on or off my yamaha rxv365 audio receiver only controls the volume the code i put in was 30176

It controls the volume just fine. It's the power that doesn't work. I'm having the same problem with my Yamaha receiver. Different model. Multiple Comcast remotes too.

I want my Comcast remote & Yamaha RX-661 to communicate??

30176 or 31176

I am guessing at what remote you are using, so the code may not work. If that is the case, go to the following link and pick your remote from the picture list.

Need a code for my Comcast Universal Remote

30176 is the code you need . Press Aux and then hold setup until Aux lights up. Enter code. If you want the remote to control the receiver all the time, press Aux and then hold setup until Aux lights up. Enter 993 then press Aux. Aux will flash, now press Cbl and Aux should light up when you use the volume.

Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver powers off, in case it becomes louder

Hey, yeah that can be frustrating.

When you turn it up do you hear the relay or a clicking sound, then you turn it on and it comes back below the +2db?

Try unplugging All the speaker wires from the unit. Turn on the unit and listen for the click.
after the click, turn it up past the 2+ db mark and see if you hear it click or shut down. If it did not click off, then suspect a shorted crossover on one of your speakers.
2nd test is to plug in One speaker, and test it at high volume, it will not harm it. If it shuts off disconnect that speaker and try another. Only one at a time.
If it works at high volume, you need to isolate one of your speakers and i bet it has a shorted crossover that has been cooked. P.S. If one is bad, suspect they will fail at a later date.
If they all fail, use a friends speaker and try it before sending it to a repair shop.

P.S. i found one on ebay i think you can get for under $100 bucks in the box.|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A2|240%3A1318
