It is taking far too long to dry, this has only recently started? what could be the problem?

Does it get hot? If it does, then the problem is reduced air flow, caused by a lint filter that hasn't been cleaned, masses of fluff in the exhaust pipe (usually on bends), or the external vent not opening properly. Birds can also nest in the vent pipe if the vent isn't protected or is broken.

If it doesn't get hot, you need a new element. Some dryers have two elements if the dryer has a high and low setting. just one element can fail.

Clothes take about 2 times longer to dry than other dryers that I have owned. Thanks

could be the filter is clogged, or that the load to cycle issues are different...is this electric or gas?

Dryer is hot when opened, but takes 3 or 4 timed cycles to get clothes dry on very dry setting and timed setting

Check for a restriction in exhaust system, not just behind unit but all the way to outside vent, should feel warm decent airflow at outside vent.If not all you will end up with is warm moist clothes,You need good airflow to take away the moisture in the clothes not just heat. This issue can happen slowly over time and next thing you know its taking two or three times longer to dry even though when you open the door its hot inside.
Good luck

Kenmore elite he3 takes wat to long to dry cloths

If your dryer is STILL heating, but you are experiencing longer dry times and/or poor drying efficiency, the following link can give you some things to check before you assume there is a malfunction with your dryer:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3578821-dryer_takes_too_long_to_dry

The number one cause of dryer heat related problems is poor exhaust ventilation. If not vented properly, a dryer will not dry efficiently, will actually take longer than required to dry, and will cause the heating circuits to overheat to the point of failure. The dryer will actually seem hotter than usual in many cases as the heating circuits begin to overheat. This is also the source of many fire hazards if not resolved. Read through the link provided and review some of the potential causes.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information is helpful.

NOTE: If you thoroughly check everything and still have problems let me know. The problem could be related to a thermostat failure.

Not drying like it used to

The Load will make a differance on how long it takes to dry. I would check your exhast vent for the dryer and make sure its clear. the vent hose from the dryer to the wall should be clear and not crushed. if it is, a 50% crush or blockage will make it take 50% longer to dry. the vent from the wall to out side the home could have a blockage or some of them have those little vents that open when the dryer is on. and sometimes they get stuck, this will cause a longer dry time.
Turn on your dryer and Find that ouside exhaust vent and if you can reach it, make sure its blowing strong. and with heat and nothing blocking it. (( somtimes birs will make a nest in them.))

It takes longer to dry your clothes you have to restart the drye

first clean the pip from the unit to the outsde vent.
then inside your unit there are 2 felts that need to be cahnge, over time they go bad and the heat run out the drum and you can feel the hood is hot but it still not to good . it will save you electric bill when you fix it. :)

My dryer does not get hot enough to dry the clothes. It takes about 80 minutes to dry on high heat.

If this is an electric dryer, it would appear that you have a broken dryer element, which would account for the extended drying time.

You can access the elements from the back of the dryer by removing the rear panel. Be sure to unplug the dryer first, to avoid getting an electric shock. You will need a multi-meter to check the continuity of the two (2) dryer elements. Just put the meter into the Ohms setting and check across the two element contact points to see if you have continuity. If you find that one of them isn't giving you a zero "0" reading, that is the bad one.

Go to searsdirectparts.com to enter in your full model number and you can see the exploded line drawing for your dryer and the parts list and prices for the replacement part.

The reason the dryer is taking longer to dry, is because without both elements, the dryer cannot get hot enough to dry the clothes within the normal time, as only one element is having to provide all the heat in an attempt to dry the clothes.

You should replace the element as soon as possible, as having only one heating element working will cause that remaining element to fail sooner as well, since it will be staying one for a much longer time than normal.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Dryer takes too long to dry my clothes

My dryer has been taking longer and longer to dry my clothes. Sometimes it takes multiple cycles before the clothes become dry. They seem to be getting warm, but are not drying as quickly as they use to.
