When I turn on the computer, The screen shows up blank.Sometimes after closing and opening the cover, it shows up. Could this be due to a faulty flat cable which connects the main body to the screen(cover)? One the image comes up, I can use the pc with no problem. If my hunch is right, where can I obtain a replacement flat cable and what would be the parts#/description? My e-mail is firstname.lastname@example.org

It could be a faulty cable; if it is try ebay. However, it may just be that the cable has come loose off the motherboard where it plugs in at. I bought a laptop on ebay for $50 because "the screen wouldn't work" and reattached the cable and it worked beautifully.

There is a switch that controls the on/off of display when the lid is opened or closed. Sometimes it's located near the hinges. Perhaps it's been damaged, loose, dirty, etc. Unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot.
Sounds like video card or video cable is faulty or loose. Is screen always blank no matter what you try? Were you getting intermittent screen flickering. There is a ribbon cable that runs from base to lid that sometimes get worn or loose from constant open/close of the lid. Try cranking lid to different positions while trying to boot up. You maybe able to find a video card under one of the covers on bottom. push card all the way inward to make sure it is seated correctly.

your LCD panel cable could be disconnection. you need do follow steps
1) open LCD lid front cover, and loosen lid back cover, looking for a cable and a plug (plug in the socket) at back of panel, take out it clean all pins then reseat it.
2) if not fixed, you need change the LCD cable, because this symptom most cause the cable disconnection at plug and socket or itself..
