-   Hi , I have the same problem for few month , first it starts getting error E-031 E-034 , Cycle power two times a week , I had to turn it off then back on , then it works again .
Recently I am getting 2, 3 times a day . I had to turn off and reset a roll of paper , I saw evertime , papaer rolled up about tow inches , I trimmed it and it work fine .
I was thinking to call service guy to fix it , but before that I search google and see you post . you said the service is helpless . I did want to pay the service man come out I he won't fix the problem , so I pull the paper draw out , cleaned up the copper bushing both ends of the roller that hold paper on the draw then I see my roll of paper is not round ( look from the end of the roll ) it looks like oval shape , it might happed when then ship or stock the roll of paper .
I picked out a very round roll of paper , replaced it and it works just fine now . I think the oval shape of paper roll caused the the speed error for plotter .
Give it a try and I hope it works for you .
Good luck.

-   We repeatedly get this error message (E-031, E034 Power Cycle). Can't get it to quit or stop shutting machine down. At first stopped once a week, then once a day, then every 5 pages, now it won't finish one page. Service tech is useless. Help-   gary873
The error message indicates a problem with the corona wires. This is an item that your service technician can clean or replace. If you have an onsite maintenance agreement, this should be part of the preventative maintenance schedule, which may vary depending on your usage volume.

A friend gave me a Lexmark 7170 all in one printer that I suspect was the cause of my having to reinstall my windows XP (home) operating system with the help of microsoft tech support at a cost of $79.00. The unit, also, cannot copy anything legibly when it is not connected to my pc. The results are just a massive waste of black ink all over the paper. I would take it in to a shop for repairs (which I think are, basically, software problems); however, I am concerned about my operating system being damaged, again. I know that I am supposed to install an additional microsoft application, or plug-in, (Frame 1 or 2) in order for the printer to work with my computer but this is a, somewhat, complicated process. I've never had, or heard of, any other printers that require this extra effort. In light of these problems is it worth the time or effort to try and salvage this unit? (Otherwise, it's hardly ever been used...) Thanks for your advice. yawni
