I have the same problem, when i install windows xp, the sound desappearI then I download the audio driver for this acer model from the acer wbsite, i install it, but the problem persist, there is no speaker icon on the right down corner of the screen, I don´t know what to do... can you help me?
i had a virus on my computer and when no antispyware was working i had to format my computer and install the windowsXP again. but for some reason the sound stopped working. i go to device manager there's a yellow question mark on the multimedia audio controller. and when i try to update it it fails. my devise is something like that: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24D5&SUBSYS_A0021458&REV_02 plz any advices??

I can't get the volume up in my computer it seem locked and I can't get it up, therefore there is no sound period.
Audio not working means there must be a driver problem.Try to install the audio driver again.If it is high Definition audio driver first uninstall audio driver and high definition audio driver package.Reinstall the driver again.if problem persists check for the audio port.
