Question about Neff 24 in. S5409X0 Built-in Dishwasher
The dwasher does'nt seem to want to do anything when selection knob is turned to activate a programme. Power is available and the machine sounds as if it tries to go into a washing cycle but after 30secs or so, the machine stops "whirring" and does nothing. This is after the machine had worked for 1 wash fine after having moved into the house. Could it have been that the earlier owner had not used it much and although it worked initially, it now requires "priming" (found this description of what could be wrong from an earlier similar solution to this problem when machine has left idle for some time)?

if this machine uses an electrical-mechanical timer with cam switches, the try oiling the shaft bushings both for the timer motor and cams-the timer may be getting stuck because of dry or corroded bushings

well I never heard of that brand so because you said a new flat Im guessing your form England. Good luck with the move. Ok I belive your problem is possibly the main control bord is bad.what you describe sounds like it. the only way to rest it it would be to replace the bord. doing that it should function normally. Good luck.

It sound like a detergent cup issue (not opened in time). The detergent cup itself can become clogged with old dried detergent that prevents it from opening. Sometimes just cleaning the cup takes care of the problem. Let me know with your results. Good luck!

if you only hear the clunking sound while the dishwasher is filling then the inlet valve is bad.. i would replace it because if it fails completely you could possibly have a flood..

Every machine is wired differently. It's possible but not likely that it has a fuse in the circuitry. My guess is that the level sensing tube is blocked and the washer thinks it is at the preset level, ior that the sensing tube has a leak in it. Similar to a hole in a straw. The washer can not advance and operate in automatic if its preset is not satisfied. The preset here is wherever you or it sets the level. Once thw washer fills then a contact closes and turns the timer motor on and advances the timer.
