Question about Rowenta DX6700 Iron
My iron doesn't want to turn on when I want to iron. I think it has something to do with the automatic on and off mechanism. If I shake it or turn it upside down, it will start, but then I have to be real careful about positioning it right so that it doesn't go off. My husband is a real handy guy and probably could fix it, but he says that it takes a special kind of tool to take it apart. Any ideas? I would just as soon not spend the $$ on a new one if I can help it!
Rowenta has an auto shutoff feature if the iron is not used for awhile. They use multi-point security Torx head screws that require the appropriate set of bits/driver kit that may be obtained at your local Kragen's or Harbor Freight tools to access the position/timer switch mechanism. Open it carefully so you can see if the switch is somehow mechanically mispositioned or sticking. You may also want to store the iron, cool and reservoir empty in the normal upright position.
