Question about HP PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have a HP dv9030ea laptop. It will not boot up. When turned on the laptop screen is just a slightly lit haze however if I plug in an external monitor you see the windows logo and time bar waiting to load the operating system. The background is not entirely black though. It has green vertical lines all along aswell. After a short whil when you think windows is about to load a blue screen appears and it starts the whole reboot procedure again. This just goes round in a loop.

Your Vga hardware is under trouble - Laptop VGA is builtin with the motherboard so we can say your motherboard has to be replaced - Also note that if any hardware corruption or failure as well as some file corruption windows os automatically reboots. It will reboot until you solve your issue............

Transferring Win 7 from laptop to external

You cant do that. The only thing I have seen and tried is to create an image of Windows 7 on a thumb drive, and it was not an easy task.
I suggest to get an external DVD drive, plug it into the PC and install. . . . . . . . Hey wait a minute!, I just noticed "my PC has a DVD player only". if its a DVD player and not a CD player, it will read the Windows 7 DVD, you may have to change the Boot Priority setting for the PC to boot from DVD before booting from the hard drive.

I have a hp laptop. was on line and screen went black. and will not show again. it strats up sounds but black screen.what do i do

1) Do you have a VGA monitor that you can use for an external monitor?
{VGA monitor is also referred to as a CRT monitor. Looks like a small TV}

The back of the laptop, or side, has a VGA port. The VGA monitor is plugged into it.
{Laptop off}
Then the VGA monitor is turned on, and allowed to 'come to life'.

Now turn on the laptop. Press the Fn key down on the keyboard, and hold it down.
Now press the Monitor toggle over key.
Since you did not state the HP laptop Model Name, and Model Number, I can only give you generic guidance on this.

The monitor toggle over key has a monitor screen symbol on it. It will be one of the F keys.

(It's an External Monitor toggle key.
Press it one time and the display toggles over to an external monitor.
Press it again, and both the laptop LCD screen, and the external monitor have a display on them.
Press it once more, and the display goes back to the laptop's LCD screen )

If display shows up on the external monitor, you have a problem with the display of the laptop.

Primer:
An LCD screen cannot produce enough light by itself. It needs an additional light source.
A Backlight is used as an additional light source.

A Backlight is a CCFL.
Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp {Bulb}
Similar to the fluorescent lighting used in homes and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.

{Average Backlight is 3 to 5 inches long, and half the diameter of a No.2 pencil.
The Backlight is located on one edge of the LCD screen}

An Inverter is used to provide power for the LCD screen, and the Backlight.

90 percent of the time the problem is the Inverter.

Inverters are relatively cheap, and if I knew the Model Name, and Model Number of your HP laptop, I could give you a link to HP Support where you could download the Service Manual for free.

This way you would have a manual to show, and detail how to replace the Inverter, and I could guide you.

I could also give links for your perusal for Inverters.

There is one more thing however.

HP Pavilion DV2000, DV6000, and DV9000 series laptops, have a graphics chip overheating problem.
The laptop comes on, the blue indicator LED lights light up, but the LCD screen is black.

This video explains why, shows a solution to fixing the problem, and details out a lot more than I am privileged to state here,

My screen on my laptop is broken. Can i plug a monitor into my laptop?

1) connect your external monitor to the laptop and then switch the monitor on
2) boot up the laptop
3) after it has successfully booted, you need to identify which function key toggles the external monitor on/off
4) you should be able to do this by holding down the Fn key and trying each of the F keys in turn, waiting a few seconds after pressing each one
5) begin by holding down "Fn" + "F3", "Fn" + "F4", "Fn" + "F5" etc.

If this doesn't work, it may be worth examining all the keys and look for a small monitor symbol on one of the keys. If you find this symbol, hold down the Fn key and then hit the corresponding key with the monitor symbol.

Blank screen

Try plugging the laptop into an external monitor to make sure the laptop is booting up properly. If it is unplug the monitor from the laptop; or if you know the laptop boots up fine and you get the windows audio when it boots and the initial starting beeps then forget the monitor. Shine a torch or light source on the screen and if you see a faint picture then the inverter on the screen has developed a fault.

Hello , i have Windows Vista home premium edition installed in my HP laptop , i tried to connect USB external hard disk (containing Windows Server 20003 ) to my laptop USB port . means i want USB...

I do not believe that server 2003 is able to be ran from a USB device, I may be wrong, but I doubt it. To see what the error message is, you can be ready when it pops up and push your Pause/Break button on your keyboard, this should freeze the screen so you can see exactly what it says.
How did you install the server o/s to the external drive?

Laptop is not able to open windows. mine is HP pavilion dv4000 p/n is EP360 UA#ABA- dv4320us

If the laptop boots up press F10 when F10 is displayed on the lower left of display and ensure that the hard drive is selected for first boot. If Windows still doesn,t boot then put the system restore cd/Windows cd in and boot from that.  If the display has nothing make sure that the brightness is not turned down or connect an external monitor. At this point repost to get more info.

My Amilo A1630 laptop is not working. The screen will not come up at all. Power switch is turn on and the green light is on. Any ideas what is wrong?

To isolate the problem try this:

Plug your laptop to an external monitor using the monitor out port on the laptop. Hit the "function" key and the corresponding F key that has the LCD Screen/External Monitor icon. Usually around F6-F8 or so.

This will test if there is something wrong with the screen and if the laptop is booting up past the BIOS.

Please comment back with results.

I have a crappy HP pavillion dv6000 laptop, after working fine on shutdown last night, i turned on this morning and it would not boot up. the lights on the volume bar lit up, flashed, and went off...thats...

It's acting like the juice is drained in the battery. Are you sure it's charged? Do you have a spare battery you can swap out?

Some of them come with two. I actually have the same series laptop (a Pavilion dv6258se, 6000 series), and they can be a little flaky.

I also had an issue where my HP power cable (that connects the laptop to the wall outlet) was faulty, and needed to be replaced, because it stopped charging the battery. I ended up purchasing a generic replacement power cable on eBay.

Cant see anything but white screen after bootup

Plug in an external monitor and use the F key with the FN to toggle between lcd and external monitor. On my laptops It is the FN and F5. If the external monitor works the problem is the the inverter board, the flex ribbon cable or the LCD. If the external monitor is also messed up then the problem is probably the video card/ motherboard.
