Question about Dell 942 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Cartridge error screen reads "cartridge error" , replaced color cart. but will only print in black!!

    My DELL AIO 942 was working fine, when suddenly started getting "cartridge error" message on screen, and now won't print at all. I've tried reinstalling cartridges and unplugging printer, hoping it would reset, but nothing changed.

    I have replaced the color cartridge twice and still get same message "Cartridge Missing"... I have cleaned the heads via the clean program that is part of the printer as well as cleaning the cartridge heads with alcohol and q-tips, but still this printer only prints in black and continues to display the same message..........help

Try reseating the cartridge & also reseat the power brick assembly.....also if u hv the factory installed cartridges....try installing those & chk if u still get the error...

I have HP Deskjet D2466 Printer and when i want to print with color cartridge, the black color would be printed as blue color... My black cartridge was exhausted so i only can printed with color...


when the color cartridge has to make black, it uses all three colors. printing blue indicates that the color cart. is getting low on red and yellow. get a new black cart. and a new color, 'cause it' s coming due.

slowly off and on the printer for five times without cartridge, printer saves data of cart of last 5 only so next time it reads full ink..

hello there :

this error refers to the black ink cart not being detected . 

possible the new cart has a some fault on it ., u can confirm it by checkin for any defetc , leak on the cart itself or test the printer with another black cart , (if u hav one ).

*if the old black cart is still detected by the printer though the ink is low ...then jus call dell tech support ., with the order # for ur purchase and the cart replaced .

each dell cart u buy has 2 yrs warranty on them .so use them

Canon Multipass F30 not printing


Did you remove the tab that covers the cartridge head where the ink comes out, if the drivers and software that you loaded on your pc work
good and your printer shows under device MGR, then it is the printer
itself,,most times you can not see how much ink in the cart,,,most are sealed,,,just try to put the cart in again and make sure it is locked in good,,try running the cleaning program with pc,,make sure the right
cart is in the right spot, bl in one spot and color in a spot.

The following error message appears on the color graphics display after you insert a cartridge: Remove and Check Print Cartridges . The printer will not print. The message does not specify which cartridge has caused the error. Solution This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
  1. Remove the color cartridge from the left stall (which has a blue latch) and refasten the latch. Leave the other cartridge in place.
  2. Close the printer, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then look at the LCD display.
    • If the LCD display reads Insert Color Cartridge in Left Stall , the color cartridge may be causing the problem. Follow the steps below:
      1. Clean the color cartridge contacts.
      2. Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
      3. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
      4. If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the color cartridge.
    OR
    • If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , follow the steps below:
      1. Reinsert the color cartridge.
      2. Remove the black or photo cartridge, depending on which one is installed in the right stall. The right stall has the gray latch. Be sure to refasten the latch on the empty stall.
      3. Clean the black or photo cartridge contacts.
      4. Reinsert the black or photo cartridge.
      5. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
      6. If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the black or photo cartridge.

  1. Remove and then reinsert the cartridge indicated in the error message.
  2. If the error is still displayed, clean the contacts.
    1. If the error message is Error. Remove and Check Black or Photo Cartridge , the following steps may help:
    1. Remove both cartridges, lower the latches, and close the printer access door.
    2. Turn off the unit by pressing the On button on the front panel. Wait for the printer to completely shut down.
    3. Turn the printer back on by pressing the On button.
    4. When the message display reads Insert Print Cartridges , open the access door and replace the cartridges.
    1. If neither of the steps above fixed the problem, either the cartridge or the printer is faulty

    do you have an error code on the display. plz give us some more details.

    Some quick hints:
    -Is the cart secured by help of the colored latches (you should hear a clicking sound).
    - Do you use generic carts? might be a prob of air ventilation = drill a hole on top of the missing one.
    -did you tell the printer that you have changed the cart by pressing 1 for yes?
    -is another cart empty?

    Cartridge problems


    Clean the heads, printer is not reading new cartridge or refilled cartridge. You may also have a paper jam if alignment is affected. Check for little jams, post back if no go lilacgerry xxx

    It seems that another cart is empty. Check all cartridges when printer is off. And yes, you do need the color ones to print in bk.

    Inputting new ink cartridges


    Error 1102 means cart error. Try cleaning the copper contacts on the cart and the contacts in the printer also. If still fails, then put old carts and check if u still get same error. If u dont get the error then there is a problem with the cart itself. But if you have bought a refilled cart then the print heads on the carts are bad. Needs replacement.
