Re: got sound, but no picture for my XB360
Red ring is not the only problem with Microsoft Xbox 360. This amazing
device also has some more common problems like Audio but no video
problem, disc read error etc. Microsoft is providing extended warranty
only for red ring problem. Means you will have to spend some money to
get this problem repaired also if you plan to send your xbox to
Microsoft, you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get back your
favourite Xbox. There is one more option in the form of DIY guide, this guide explains solving No Video problem with step by step instruction, so any novice can fix this problem.

Check both sides of the audio/video cable connection. Make sure the red/white cables are plugged in to the proper red/white components on the TV (You may have more than one, and may have plugged the audio in the wrong input). If your TV allows input from separate audio sources, make sure it's set to accept audio from the PS2. You can also make sure the video/audio cable is plugged in fully in the back of the PS2.
Are you using hdmi cable? I would try different hdmi input or try different cable if you have one. If still using a/v cable make sure the white and red audio cable are plugged to the same input as your video. If that doesn't work you can try resetting the video on your ps3 by holding the power button until you get the 2 beeps.
This might not help everybody but it might be a cheap fast solution to the "Xbox 360 no picture but sound ok" problem. I have old refurbished 360 that has had no problems at all. SInce I got it have used it with powerwave cooler attached to the back. This cooler has seperate Outputs for Vga, SVga, audio, component and av. Don't need the microsoft cable at all just standard cables. Always had it plugged in with VGA or SVGA cables and got great picture. I bought new 360 and put the old one in bedroom with old tv which only has av inputs. Got shocking picture that was unwatchable but sound was good. Tried all ways but no different. Seems the xbox plug has problems. If you get the powerwave cooler it splits the xbox output socket in to seperate outputs for everything so you can use it with Vga or Svga cables if your tv has those inputs and it should work fine. Only seems to be the standard AV outputs that have problems. Haven't tried the componet leads but I guess they might work as well. If you only have the old yellow, red and white AV inputs on your tv this wont help you but if you have the other types of inputs it might fix it. The powerwave cooler you should be able to buy for under $20 so it could be a cheap solution for this problem everyone seems to be getting lately. It works for me at least so get one and give it a try.
try checking to make sure your cables are plugged in correctly, or try setting it up on a different tv to see if it works. the cables could be faulty. Try changing the input channel, you may have it on the wrong input channel. Let me know if this helps.
A possible solution to your problem could be that the audio and video cords are plugged into different jacks in the television. I have experienced the same problem and i found that by switching the video cord to different inputs on the tv i would eventually have picture. The audio seems to be fine so leaving that cord where it is should be fine. On the remote to his tv there should be an "input" button that changes which components the tv is reading. If you press the input button and the picture appears on the screen but the sound goes away then your 2 plugs for the game console are not in the same channel on the back of the tv. I hope this helps
