Ive looked over many different situations with this unit another expert on another site wrote this comment I too thought the machine had bad seals as water came pouring out every time I used it. It was very frustrating the first few times I tried it. Yet, I learned other espresso experts that you need a good conical burr grinder. So don't waste your time unless have a decent grinder. Equally important, you need to get the right temperature prior making a shot. If you follow the manufacturers lead, you will you let some water through the pump and then let it preheat for about 8-10 minutes. One more step is to run a tad more H2o to preheat through the filter- then you are ready to tamp your coffee into the filter continueing on next comment Thanks againRick
look at the position when you insert the handle its supposed to make a seal that is why it is hard to maneuver its putting heated water through that handle if you are having a hard time with the handle going on and off i would suggest you use this link and call the manufacturer http://www.coffeeitalia.co.uk/gaggia-cus...
these are there customer service numbers if you have any further questions please message me back and thanks again

Place one level measure of coffee in basket for each cup of espresso. Do not overfill. Gently tamp down coffee with the tamper. Do not compress too firmly. Clean any excess coffee from the rim of filter holder.
Try to remove the spare parts of it and clean the blades of it. I suggest to clean all the angles of the espresso machine especially on the mixer part. Then restart the machine and check if the ground coffee will grind. Otherwise call the manufacturer and replace the blades of it...

It isn't a grinder, it's a semi-automatic espresso maker. The brew-basket (where I put the coffee) is very difficult to place into position, and the ground coffee sticks to the machine in abundance.
I just received a Gaggia color, and although I put the right amount of coffee in for each respective filter basket, and tamp, every time I make a shot, the ground coffee sticks to the top, and it is very difficult to move into position

no hard water, and I've tried multiple fine grinds. The biggest problem I'm having is moving the brew handle thing into position; it's very difficult to turn rightwards.
