My daughter works at home as a Customer Service Rep. for Generation Networks (Ancestor.com). She has a terminal from work and it is configured for her to work from home. She has done that for over a year...

This is only a problem with the firmware of your modem/router that you need to update it, because a network device like a modem and router that is working fine for severla years and suddenly stop working you just need to update the firmware of it and it should be working fine again, to update the firmware of the modem/router just need to call the manufacturer for that....

Hope that helps.........

Wireless quit after trying to get speakers to work

Maybe you turned the wireless off. What do you mean it quit? Does it see any wireless networks to connect to? If not, you have turned the wireless off.

I have Netgear Wireless Router that has just quit. I removed the connection to tha computer and connect thr modem direct. It now works. Can this be fixed?

Hi,
If the internet is working fine , after connecting the modem directly. You have already pinpointed the problem with router. There nothing much you can do, except for resting the wireless router and in 90% of the cases it starts working fine after the reset.

You can use the following link to reset the router
Reset the Router
The link also has a video tutorial for reference.
* Username = admin
* Password = password * For older devices, password = 1234

In case the problem is not resolved after the reset, its better to replace the same.

Thanks for using Fixya

Internet no longer working, but internal network is fine.

i agree with all the above.. it's definately clear as mud how the network is designed and or funtioning. The machines connected to the wireless d-link router.. are they via cat5 inthe wired ports or wireless ? is the server the machine thats connecting to the switch and wiress router and modem? i'd say reset all switches modems routers and machines.. shut them all down.. then fire the cable modem, then the wireless router then the desktop switch then the server, the workstations and the one lonely wireless.. run "ipconfig /all" on all machines and if they aren't all sharing common ips and access, provide the results here for further investigation.

I CANT GET MY LAPTOP TO WORK WITHOUT THE ETHERNET CABLE IN?

Hi,

When was the last time using your internet connection wirelessly? If this is the first time you will use your wireless internet. You may need to check it with your internet service provider or you may check it with your wireless modem (router) manufacturer.

Using wireless internet connection, you will need to configure the settings in the wireless modem (router). you will need to get an admin password and username.

If you were able to connect to the internet wirelessly, check if you wireless icon (WIFI) on your laptop is on.

Keep me posted.

Thanks.

How do i set my belkin wireless g router modem to send internet to my other computers throiugh wireless?

In the set up page (generally an administration website accessed by something like 192.168.1.1), there is a wireless section. Make sure you enable it, and set up an SSID, encryption, etc.

Which belkin model is it?

This sounds like a poor put together pc. If the DVD drive does not eject then either the dvd is faulty or the IDE cable and/or IDE1 connector on motherboard is not installed, try ejecting through my computer(right click on drive then Eject), if this works the button is faulty. The same goes for the TV Tuner card, again possibly a corrupt or non installed driver, try re installing mother board drivers and card drivers. This really needs to be returned as the pc is not fit for it's use.
