Question about Canon CanoScan LiDE 30 Flatbed Scanner

Won't copy I have a problem with Windows Vista and my scanner. My copy button on the toolbox will not copy anything in the scanner. It will scan items to a file but will not copy them. Please help.

    I am sorry to say, my copy (button) or option will still not work.
    When I pressed down on copy, it says that windows is closing the application and will let me know if there is a solution. CanoScan Toolbox Application has stopped working. When I pressed on the cog setting it doesn't show any driver in the window that opens up under copy. it shows copy, mail, ocr, save , scan 1, scan 2, and show main window. My scanner does scan to a file and then you can print from there. However, it will not copy and print from either the button on the front of the scanner, not the copy button in the toolbox..

start, programs, canon scangear toolbox,

A little box like this should appear

press on the cog icon

Select the copy tab and ensure that the "link to" is set to DRIVER, and press the SET button and select the printer you want to copy to from the dropdown, then OK, OK

post back results and if required I will give more ideas to try

    According to the canon website there needs to be a driver installed to copy and have a "copy" button in the toolbox...



    read HERE



    download the driver removal tool from HERE (you need to tick the box to accept first)



    download the latest toolbox from HERE



    download the latest driver from HERE



    I would run the driver uninstall program, uninstall the version of toolbox you have.



    Unplug the scanner from the PC BEFORE installing the new driver.



    Install the new driver - and install the newer version of toolbox ensuring that if prompted you select options to allow copy function.



    Connect you scanner to PC - it should detect new hardware and find the new driver automatically.



    Post back results.

I bought the Canon Canoscan N1240u flatbed scanner. I downloaded the drivers and plugged in the cord that came with it but it doesn't do anything.


Just to be sure, did you install the driver in addition to downloading it? Full software or basic driver. The software must be installed before connecting the data cable. What OS are you using? (if you have Vista 64-bit, it is not compatible) If you didn't install the software, uninstall the OS driver and disconnect the data cable before attempting to install the Canon software. Otherwise see the notes for scanning with other software.

First are you trying to use the scanner buttons? These will only work if the full software is installed. For the buttons to work, you have to set up the scanner button destinations in the Canon software first. Also a monitoring program must be running for the button presses to work.

So try scanning from the computer first. If you still get an error, try a new data cable. If you are using a USB hub, try a direct connection. Make sure your USB ports work with a known working device. You can also check if the ports are disabled for security (in the Device Manager for Windows) or power savings (an advanced setting from the Screen Saver).

Once you have scanned successfully from the computer, go to the Settings section of the Toolbox to set the default destinations for the scan buttons.

If you only installed the basic driver, you can scan with Paint (XP or Vista), File > Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan. Vista also has Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) and Photo Gallery to acquire scans. I don't know the Mac software. Third-party software will also work if installed.

Hp 3670 no longer scans to computer with vista 32 bit upgrade. Scanner will only scan out copies to printer. worked fine with windows xp


You can use Paint or a similar program to scan in a picture/document with your scanner.
Once in Paint you can select from Open the option of From Scanner.
You can change the size to fit the page in Paint and then save it to a file which can be opened and sent to a printer.
It's very basic, of course and it doesn't give you the options to set the scanner options usually found in the HP Toolbox.

Canoscan toolbox has stopped working


Vista is the laughing stock of IT pros everywhere.  Vista is truly the bastard child of Bill Gates.  Go on Canon web site and look for updated drivers to run on Vista or downgrade back to XP, which is more user friendly with peripherals.

Trying to make a copy- worked last week?


This is most likely only happening when attempting to scan through the CanoScan Toolbox. You can scan directly through ArcSoft PhotoStudio which came with the scanner. However, the error through Toolbox is likely caused by some limitation or restriction in the computer, possibly permissions of some sort. You may try deleting temp files from the Temp folder on the hard drive.

Unable to select TWAIN source


tried uninstallin and installin canon scanner drivers..nothing works..still seeing unable to select twian source..

so i tried an alternative..here we go..
on vista 64 os/vista any version..click Start>All programs>Windows fax and scan

next click new scan on top and that got me going.

some say there are issues with the way usb talks to old scanners with new operating systems like mine (vista 64). hope it helps until you find the actual cure.

TWAIN is the type of scanner driver that is used for this scanner. It is probably the most common type of scanning driver.

Did you install Toolbox? Not sure? Assuming this is Windows, click Start, All Programs, Canon. Look for open CanoScan Toolbox (4.9 I think). Once this is open, click the 'Settings' button. There should be a drop-down menu for 'Select Scanner'. Make sure this shows the CanoScan LiDE 25. If that scanner is not listed, then the scanner driver is not being seen or may not be installed.

Once it has been verified that the LiDE 25 is selected, click OK. Next, click the 'Save' button. Check the box for 'Display the Scanner Driver'. Now click the 'Scan' button at the bottom.
The next window that pops up should be ScanGear. If this happens, then everything is installed and the scanner is being detected properly. Attempt to scan or preview.

When you say the error occurs as soon as you press "Scan", is that the button on the scanner, or is it the Scan button inside of Toolbox or ScanGear?
If it is the one on the scanner, try accessing the driver through an application such as Toolbox. If you didn't download that when you got the driver, then go back to the Canon download page and download & install the CanoScan Toolbox. Once that's installed, lauch Toolbox from Start|All Programs|Canon|....look for Toolbox from here. Once you have Toolbox open, click the 'Save' option. Next, check the box that indicates to Use the scanner driver. Click the Scan button at the bottom. This should open ScanGear. Attempt to Preview scan.

After hours of trying things.I found this and it worked. The scanner button doesn't work, but at least I can scan.
