Question about Xerox WorkCentre XE88 Laser Printer
Keeps flashing E2...but there is absolutely no paper inside the machine. I've turned machine off and on...disconnected and reconnected...removed and replaced toner and drum. Any ideas?
Remove the toner and drum cartridges. Using a flashlight, look inside the front of the printer. At the rear of the cavity there are two large rubber rollers. On the floor, about an inch to the right of the rightmost roller, there's a tiny black plastic feeler that's supposed to protrude from a slot in the floor and be pushed down by paper as it feeds through. Occasionally it sticks in the down position, causing the printer to think there's a paper jam. Running a finger over it usually unsticks it so it will pop up where it belongs. I usually flick it down a few more times to make sure it's free to pop pack up. I guess the spring tension, light by design, is sometimes not enought to overcome friction.

I'm fairly sure E2 relates to the registration sensor, check the paper path around the area where the paper first enters the machine from the tray, check that the paper flags aren't stuck down.
