This is probably a high pressure reset on the condensing unit (outside unit). One thing you might try doing is cleaning the coils on this unit. You can do this by spraying water through the coils themselves. MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE DOING THIS!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps Ya

Efficiency of RV Rooftop Units Deteriorating???

If the overall effectiveness of you RV Rooftop AC seems to be much less than the day you bought, here is a simple procedure to keep it running cold and prolong the life of the unit.

Problems:
1. Air seems to not be blowing as cold as before
2. Compressor trips breaker during the hottest part of the day
3. Air at night works just fine but is lacking during the day

These problems can often be solved by simply cleaning out the condenser coil of the upper unit. You will need a phillips screwdriver and a water hose with a nozzle on it.

- Remove the upper shroud from the unit
- Gently spray water through the condenser coil watching from the fan side. BE CAREFUL, do not spray with too high of pressure nor sideways. Make sure you keep the nozzle spraying directly at the coils.
- Once the water begins to flow clearly through the condenser, you should be good to go. Make sure you get as much of the condenser clean as possible.

This will save the life of many RV Air Conditioners.

Compressor only stays on for 2-3 minutes than shuts off

if the sensors are okay, it might be the compressor overheating, my portable ac (moretti elite ac) is also behaving the same, especially when i turn the fan to max. the compressor shuts down about 7 mins and turns on again in about 5 mins, now i found out when i turn to medium or low the compressor runs normally. i think when on medium or low setting some of the cool air directs/channels to the compressor thus cooling it more.

Ac unit runs, inside blower shuts off after 2 mins, compressor continues to run, t-stat still calling for cool

My central AC unit decided to stop on the hottest day of the year. It would start and run normally for a few minutes and then the blower would shut off. After checking the breakers, thermostat and overflow shut off (did not have one) I saw something about a blower motor capacitor. This was easy to get to and replace and my last hope before waiting for someone to come fix it. The capacitor cost $4.04 with tax and had my AC working again. Needless to say I was beyond happy. I hope this can help others with a similar problem.

We have a 4 year old maytag a/c - M1200 16 seer unit. The compressor has stopped running several times durring the hottest time of day - the air handler keeps on running - which brings in warm humid...

It may be overheating, but chances are it has a high limit control switch which may be bad or it is overcharged with freon, in any case the limit and/or the freon charge needs to be verified by a qualified person who know the proper method's for charging and verify charge.
The hotter outside temps cause the high side pressure to rise, with a properly charged system it should operate properly even at 120 degree temps.

Yes it sure does sound like something may be wired wrong, Could you please reply with model number of your AC unit as well as thermostat model? To find your AC unit model number if you don't already have it, remove your ceiling air filter assembly, and it should be on the base of the roof unit, facing you.
The base of the roof (upper) unit will have a model and serial number, and if you see a control box where all the wiring attaches as well, get model number from that too if you will. Those numbers should make it easier to determine exactly where the problem is. Thanks.

RUUD AC cycles warm & cold 24/7

Hello Anna Sounds like the compressor is overheating and stoping on overload internally. Then it cools down restarts and runs into overload again.I would like to see the freon pressures when running.Could have a clog/restriction in piping.I dont like that you went thru a compressor already, the original installition is suspect. The original (1st) failure cause must be corrected.Check the TXV valve replace, filter/dryer look for a kinked pipe are ideas for overheating.Make sure condenser coil is free (ari flow)& clean also.

My r/t air conditioner will not cool down pass 83 degrees during the hottest part of the day.

Have you checked the filters to make sure they are clean?
If they're clogged they'll prevent the unit from cooling.
