I had the same problem. My son could not calibrate the board. However I called Activision and they said to not use the batteries it came with. Instead use older batteries and try calibrating again. I did this and it worked. If I would have known it would be that easy I would have tried that a long time ago. Hope this helps.

Tony hawk shred will not calibrate, have tried everything suggested by others (since christmas) for two months, still can not calibrate

It's possible that walls, people, or other entities are triggering the IR sensors on the sides of the board. To prevent this issue, make sure that there are four feet of free space on all sides whenever playing and that there are no large metal objects nearby.

Return to the main menu and select "Options", then select "Calibrate Board" and follow the onscreen instructions. Make sure to follow the steps exactly and hold the board in the calibrating positions for the amount of the time the video that is play is telling you.

During the initial IR sensor calibration process ensure that you are standing away from the board and that you are motionless. When it is time to calibrate each individual IR sensor you will then be shown some positions on the board to hold. Ensure that your entire foot is covering the lens of the particular IR sensor you are instructed to cover. Also ensure the board is facing the right direction. The buttons on the board should be on the left side of the board. Cover the whole sensor for the full count. Tony Hawk will say "Got it" when the timer is finishing. Continue to hold that board position until the button prompt to continue appears. Stepping off of the board before that will cause an error even after Tony Hawk says "Got it". You do not need to press a button to continue to move on to the next step. The calibration video will move on to the next step on its own.

If you still have issues with the calibration then try lowering the lights in the room. Sometimes bright lights can interfere with the IR sensors.

hope this helps

I have Tony Hawk Shred for Wii. I am trying to calibrate it. I am on the left side and it just won't calibrate. Any suggestions? Thanks, Karla

What worked for me after returning 4 times was to set the sensor settings in the wii settings to below the tv but put the sensor above the tv with 2 old and 2 new batteries

Can't calibrate tony hawk shred board xbox360

A lot of people are apparently having this problem. Since I don't own the game, I checked it out on Google and here are some helpful tips:
1) Replace the batteries with brand-new batteries.
2) Do the initial calibration off the ground. Put it on something like a coffee table or a nightstand. Obviously you aren't going to stand on it but you can still recalibrate it after your initial calibration.
3) Finally, here's one directly from ShredGame.com:

Tony hawk shred board will not calibrate even with enough clearance all around keeps saying something did not go through.

I had the same problem. Do not use the batteries that come with the board. Use slightly older batteries and re-calibrate the board, this should work.
